On October 22, 2011 we published a report here at WOBIK entitled Stanley Ann Dunham goes to Kenya.
The report featured a snapshot taken from the film White Mischief in which actress Greta Scacchi plays Diana Lady Broughton, sexually mischievous white British woman who is visting Kenya circa the year 1940. We compared and likened British Diana Lady Broughton to American Ann Dunham who arrived in Kenya approximately 20 years later.
Dr. Conspiracy (Kevin Wayne Davidson) publish (March 22, 2012) an article, Born in Africa myth crushed under weight of its complexity, in which he asserts that from June 1961 thru June 1962 (note: Obama was born in August 1961) that only 1 (one) person flew (traveled by air) from Kenya to the United States. Morever, than one person what an Alien (i.e., non US Citizen). Another 20 persons (13 Aliens, 7 US Citizens) traveled from Kenya to the United States by sea. The purported 1962 US Government document is attached below for review:
The problem with the foregoing numbers is that the British Government indicates the in the year 1961 that 6792 Americans visted British East Africa (i.e., Kenya, Tanganyika, Uganda and Zanzibar):
It is exceedingly challenging and problematic to conclude that out of those 6792 Americans that only only one (1) of them returned to the United Statea of America by air and twenty (20) of them by sea.
Furtermore, the porportion of stay in Kenya, Tanganyika, Uganda and Zanzibar indicates that in 1961 that 67% of all vistors were traveling to Kenya while only approximately 21% traveled to Tanganyika, 10% to Uganda and approximately 1% to Zanzibar. (Also please note the reference to passengers arriving in Mombasa by ship (i.e., by sea) and the immense amount (£378,277) of tourist trade revenue created by those passengers):

The Colonial Office Report On The Colony And Protectorate of Kenya For The Year 1961 indicates (on page 98 85, “Aviation” segment, which is attached below) that the total number of visitors (all nationalities) in 1961 who arrived in East Africa by way of airplane was at least 35,426 vistors. 42,754.
Twelve (12) airlines operated scheduled trunk services into Kenya, in 1961, using the following aircaft:
1. Boeing 707 7. DC7C
2. Boeing 720 8. DC6B
3. Douglas DC8 9. DC6
4. Comet 10. Viscount
5. Britannia 11. Canadair
6. Constellation 12. DC3
The year 1961 was notable for the introduction of large aircraft by four more airlines operating scheduled trunk services through Kenya. A total of eight airlines used jet aircraft.
Outstanding events of 1961 included the inauguration of jet services between Nairobi and India and Pakistan, the intensification of jet services between Nairobi and Europe, and the introduction of Central African Airways in conjunction with East African Airways of “Flame Lily” Holidays.
Could Stanley Ann Dunham have made telephone calls from Kenya, to the U.S.A., in 1961?
The Colonial Office Report On The Colony And Protectorate of Kenya For The Year 1961 indicates (on pages 85 thru 87, “Telecommunications and Postal Services” segment, which is attached below) that increased use was made of the telephone in 1961, compared with the previous year and among exchanges converted to automatic working in East Africa during 1961 was one at Shanzu, on the Kenya Coast. Shanzu is located in the Mombasa District. Shanzu is approximately 11.5 miles from central Mombasa.
International telephone service traffic continued to grow in 1961 and nearly 10,000 calls were made from East Africa that year. The service was extended to the West Indies and Ruanda Urundi and was improved by the opening of direct links to Pakistan and Malaya.
Also available in Kenya at the time was radiocall service which enabled subscribers who lived or worked in remote areas not serviced by telephone lines to communicate by means of high frequency radio with control stations which could extend calls to telephone subscribers anywhere is East Africa and also undertake the reception and transmission of telegrams.
Could Stanley Ann Dunham have sent telegrams from Kenya, to the U.S.A., in 1961?
The Colonial Office Report On The Colony And Protectorate of Kenya For The Year 1961 indicates (on pages 85 thru 87, “Telecommunications and Postal Services” segment, which is attached below) that approximately 622, 300 foreign telegrams were handled during that year in East Africa.
Also, the previous year (1960), the International Telex service had extended externally to the Western Union System of the U.S.A., Ruanda Urundi, Brazil, India, the Commercial Company System of the U.S.A., Iran, Argentina, Canada and Finland. Telex service was a fully automatic teleprinter switching system, which enabled subscribers to call each other at any time of day or night and to communicate in print. Calls could be made to telex subscribers in other countries. A total of 3,625 international, and 1,862 locals calls, were made using the International Telex service in Kenya for the year 1961.
Could Stanely Ann Dunham have traveled by road or by railway train from Nairobi to Mombasa in they year 1961?
Attached below are pages 82 thru 85 (“Railways and Harbors” segment) which contain data regarding roads and railways in British East Africa. Attached directly below those pages, for review, are two color photographs of a large fold-out color map which which is bound to the Colonial Office Report On The Colony And Protectorate of Kenya For The Year 1961 which clearly indicates that there was “Principal Road” and a “Railway” between Nairobi and Mombasa in 1961:
In closing, please see page 208 which is attahced directly below, for review, which lists Mombasa and Coast Province as well as the Protectorate (i.e., the Protectorate of Kenya or Kenya Protectorate) which states “The Protectorate – A Strip of Coastal Land Leased From The Sultan of Zanizar“.

I have long maintained that Ann Dunham, her newborn baby, BHO-II, and possibly accompanied and assisted by the American Christian missionary, Lois Anderson, likely flew from Nairobi, Kenya to London and then on to Vancouver, Canada in mid to late August 1961. Ann and her young son then made the 141 mile trip via ground transportation ACROSS THE CANADIAN BORDER to Seattle in plenty of time for her to start Fall extension classes at the University of Washington.
Furthermore, you make the following, very logical statement, based on information shown from the Kenya Annual Report 1961:
The above statement is strengthened based on the information given on page 98 of the report, showing that only 6463/57085 = 11.3% of visitors to East Africa arrived (and many likely returned) by Sea but 42754/57085 = 74.9% arrived (and many likely returned) by AIR.
Information is shown that twelve (12) airlines operated scheduled trunk services into Kenya in 1961 with 8 of these airlines using JET AIRCRAFT.
There does appear to be a large discrepancy between the two reports mentioned above. Regardless, BOTH reports indicate that Ann and her newborn child could very likely have EASILY returned to the United States from Kenya via air in mid to late August 1961. (The report referenced by Dr. Conspiracy indicates that the return trip to the U.S. was likely made via Vancouver, Canada.)
You present good background information showing that in 1961, Ann could EASILY have:
— Traveled back and forth between Nairobi and Mombasa via either railroad or car.
— Made phone calls back to the U.S. advising her mother of the birth details
— Sent telegrams back to the U.S. advising her mother of the birth details

I have never given much credit to “possibility” reasonings: both those from the birther camp and those from the opposition. For me, if something is possible, that doesn’t mean it has happened. I believe possibility is not a sufficient condition, possibility and necessity must both be present. Necessity can be explained as lack of better alternatives. And here, as in other cases, there are tons of alternatives to this possibility. As a principle of logic I could also invoke occam’s razor: “among competing hypotheses, the hypothesis with the fewest assumptions should be selected”. This postulation has been further developed by John Nash with his game theory (a film was made about him – A beautiful Mind). It is a great statement about how we behave. I have many additional comments to make (and at least one additional picture) that I am going to make regarding the recent Colonial Office Report for Kenya. I thank you for you two (2) recent comments on the WOBIK report. There’s a lot of data in that Colonial Office Report (e.g., you pointed out the Weights & Measures as well as the comment about Mombasa and the Protectorate) and I wanted to write more in the report but I just figured that I should finally publish (I’ve had the report since 2011!) and so I scanned the thing in this month and figured that we could dissect it more once we published the report at the WOBIK blog.
My first two (2) additional comment is as follows:
On page 64 (“Hospital Services” segment) “Coast Province General Hospital, Mombasa” is listed.
On page 198 thru 199 (Appendix 7 – Hospital Beds at the 31st December, 1961) “Coast Province General Hospital, Mombasa” is listed.
I have an immense number of additional comments (and at least one, if not more, photographs) to add to the report.

The information indicates that, although the ongoing Mau Mau rebellion was causing significant economic problems for Kenya in 1961 as indicated elsewhere in the report, it did not appear to be reducing tourism to any great extent.
Thus, Obama’s mother, Ann Dunham, would likely have felt comfortable traveling to Kenya with the many other tourists in 1961 to have her baby.

The birth date shown is simply ‘1936’, which by Western standards is deficient in that no month or day is listed along with the year. However, based on the above quote from the Annual Report, this type of reporting could be considered perfectly natural for Kenya.
In fact, the actual birth YEAR for BHO-Sr. can be considered highly QUESTIONABLE.
Consider the information given in the below referenced article titled, ‘Did Obama’s Father Forget When He Was Born?’, WND, by Jerome R. Corsi, 6/2/2011:
On page 39 there is a chart which lists farms and acres by province and each province is listed in a box on the chart. The chart takes up nearly the entire page.
Coast Province is clearly listed (along with Nyanza, Central, Rift Valley and Southern).
If there are any Jerome Corsi types (or also members from Politijab.com & TheFogbow.com) left out there this should be a definitive end to the debate on whether or not Coast was Province in 1961.

The table shows that 81,345 passengers embarked and disembarked at the Port of Mombasa in 1961.
Thus, if a pregnant Ann Dunham did indeed travel via steamship from Hawaii to the busy port of Mombasa in the Spring of 1961, she likely found the port teaming with LOTS of other visitors arriving from many other parts of the world.
This would have been fitting conclusion of a very exciting and informative, approximate 7 week long trip for an adventuresome 18 year-old college student and future anthropologist.

The overnight train ride, 1st class, from Mombasa to Nairobi took about 13.5 hours. It probably left the Mombasa station at about 6:30 PM.
Ann Dunham could easily and conveniently made the train trip from Mombasa to Nairobi several days to a week after delivery of BHO-II at the Coast Province General Hospital on August 4, 1961.

They are included here just to help show the airline capabilities of Kenya in the 1960s. I doubt that Ann Dunham actually found need to utilize the Mombasa airport.
The following link gives a typical airline schedule covering flights between Mombasa and Nairobi. The flight time was 1hr 45min NON-STOP or 3hr 20min if a flight with 2 intermediate stops was taken.

I have a suggested correction for the information given in the following quote from your original post:
I believe the correct PAGE for the reference on the ‘number of visitors’ should be 98 and not 85 as you have listed. Also, the actual NUMBER of visitors should be 42,754. The 35,426 figure for visitors cited is actually for the previous year, 1960.

The table shows ‘visitors by nationality’ for the year 1961 as 6792 American visitors, or about 6792/57085 = 11.9% of the total number of visitors to Kenya in 1961.
Compare the above very substantial figure to the miniscule figure given in Table 31 on page 74 of the below linked Annual Report of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Services . The information of interest is also shown in the image appearing at the end of this comment.
The U.S. INS Table 31 shows ONLY 21 PASSENGERS arrived in the United States by Sea and Air from Kenya for the year ended June 30, 1962.

WTF! – THIS IS RIDICULOUS. There appears to be absolutely no logical relationship between these two sources. Something is VERY WRONG HERE!
In my opinion, the KENYAN REPORT is much more likely to be accurate than the all-country-inclusive U.S. INS Report in the data presented regarding visitors to KENYA. The people on the ground in Kenya had the necessary contacts and sources in Kenya, plus the interest, to report ACCURATE DATA!

keep in mind that the main East African travel destination in the 60s was probably not Kenya but Uganda and that the main provenance into Uganda was India – until Idi Amin Dada expelled them the Indian community in Kampala was very large and prosperous. So what I suggest is to scroll the US source you posted down to show Uganda.

Table 31 does not even list Uganda so I assume that no passengers ARRIVED in the U.S. from UGANDA that year.
Table 32 shows that only 6 passengers DEPARTED from the U.S. by Air to UGANDA that year. No passengers departed by Sea.
Table 32 also shows that 63 passengers DEPARTED from the U.S. by Sea to KENYA that year. No passengers departed by Air.
However, based on the data I have examined in the Kenya Annual Report 1961, I have absolutely no confidence in the validity of the data shown in the INS Report for either UGANDA or KENYA for the year under discussion here.
Page 98 of the Kenya Annual Report 1961 shows that, for visitors to East Africa, 67.0% of their time was spent in Kenya, 21.4% in Tanganyika, 10.0% in Uganda and 1.6% in Zanzibar. Therefore, I must question your statement that:

Heavy rains flood Kenya in September 1961 thru December 1961.
RE: The main railway line (& the main road) from Mombasa to Nairobi.
Its appears, according to pages 125 thru 129, that towards the end of September 1961 and thru some point in December 1961 that a tremendous amount of rain fell (following a severe drought) in Kenya and caused exceptional flooding. At some point within that window of time (Sept. – Dec.) the main railway line from Mombasa to Nairobi appears to have had some trouble functioning:

“But the heavy rains continued and by the second week in November the Colony’s communications were disrupted on a very large scale indeed. The main railways line from Mombasa to Nairobi to Nairobi, in particular, was subjected to the greatest stress. Bridges and culverts were swept away, repaired and swept away again. Railway engineers were engaged in an ebbing and flowing battle with the floods which lasted into December.”
“By this time the main road from the coast to Nairobi was for the most quite impassable.”
That being said, we are able to ascertain the following:

SCOTUS pointed out in the Minor case women were always just as much a person and citizen as any man. Married or unmarried it didn’t matter. Larry Bland, that not quite correct. We don’t know for sure who the racists are among the Obots except for Dr Con who admitted to being a racist in recovery. What we do know is the anti-Birther Cesspool Obots have become opportunists taking advantage of the black race in America because of Obama’s skin color, and since 2008 have used them to smear about 1/2 of the American people who just wanted Obama to release his records to clear up the controversies that surround them.
