The F-35 Lightning II Fighter Jet

Published on Feb 18, 2014 by 'Largest Dams

The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II (also known as the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter) is a family of single-seat, single-engine, fifth-generation multirole fighters under development to perform ground attack, reconnaissance, and air defense missions with stealth capability. The F-35 has three main models; the F-35A is a conventional takeoff and landing variant, the F-35B is a short take-off and vertical-landing variant, and the F-35C is a carrier-based variant.

F-35 JSF development is being principally funded by the United States with additional funding from partners. The partner nations are either NATO members or close U.S. allies. The United Kingdom, Israel, Italy, Australia, Canada, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Turkey are part of the active development program; Japan has ordered the F-35, while Singapore may also equip their air force with the F-35. South Korea decided to purchase 40 F-35s in late 2013.

BRUCE , THANK YOU for posting this video of the greatest fighter jet . I was trained in the AIR FORCE as a jet mechanic and later was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Florida , assembling several different engines , including the J T - 11 which developed 45,000 pounds of thrust . It was fascinating to watch the amazing machinery and methods required to manufacture these beasts , and a real education . Air shows are a wonderful way to experience the power and maneuverability of jet aircraft including fighters and giant cargo planes . One time at Opa Locka airport , we saw a Harrier jet take off vertically , hover , turn 90 degrees left , 180 degrees right and take off like a rocket . My big dream was to become a pilot of jet fighters , but i was too tall .
