Member of Congress: Both Parties Will Vote to Impeach if Obama Attacks Syria
“LET THE VOICES OF THE PEOPLE BE HEARD”

(Sep. 19, 2013) — In an interview on Thursday with Alex Jones, Rep. Walter B. Jones (R-NC3) stated that members of both parties will move to draft Articles of Impeachment if Barack Hussein Obama launches a military attack on Syria.

Earlier this month, Obama and putative Secretary of State John Kerry had attempted to garner support for a strike on Syria for what was claimed to be in the interest of U.S. national security, but the majority of Congress, the American people and the international community remained unconvinced.

On August 21, a chemical weapons attack was said to have been launched, with the Obama regime claiming that Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad launched. Others reported evidence of chemical weapons in the hands of the Syrian opposition, which includes members of Al Qaeda and Hezbollah, among other terrorist groups. It was reported on Tuesday that Obama “waived” two sections of a federal law which prohibits assisting countries which have promoted international terrorism, thereby justifying “non-lethal” aid to the rebels.

However, the Obama regime is also supplying “anti-tank weaponry” and “life-saving chemical weapons-related assistance” to the rebels in apparent violation of the Arms Export Control Act.

Obama is assisting the rebels with the knowledge that Islamic terrorists, including members of Al Qaeda, which launched the attacks on September 11, 2001 against the United States, are fighting with them. An analyst, Elizabeth O’Bagy, whose statements on the Syrian opposition have been relied upon by Kerry and Obama is also the political director of a group pushing the U.S. to take the side of the rebels. O’Bagy was recently fired from two positions for reportedly misrepresenting her credentials on her resume.

After making an offhand remark in the UK about what Syria could do to avert a U.S. military strike, Russian President Vladimir Putin quickly offered to broker an agreement with Assad in which Assad would give up his chemical weapons arsenal. Last Saturday, an agreement was reportedly reached which caused Obama and Kerry to say that diplomacy should be attempted before military intervention.

Rep. Jones predicted that “a number of Articles of Impeachment” will be drafted by both Democrats and Republicans if Obama moves ahead on his own on Syria, which Obama has said he can do. Impeachment is the first step toward removing a chief executive who has committed “high crimes and misdemeanors” or treason, as stated in Article II, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution.

At the end of August, ABC News suggested a way in which Obama could follow through on his contention that he had the “constitutional authority to conduct U.S. foreign relations” and merely needed to inform Congress of his plans.

During the interview, Jones indicated a weariness with war and the United States’ policing the world. Citing the economy and struggling American families, Jones said that the U.S. should not be pouring billions into the governments of other countries, particularly in the Middle East.

Rep. Jones also opposed Obamacare, which he is working to defund, and the specter of raising the debt ceiling in an expected government funding bill necessary by October 1 to keep the government open.

Jones said that the vast majority of calls and emails his office received on Syria were opposed to U.S. intervention, which Jones believes is unconstitutional. He has expressed doubt on the Obama regime’s account of the August 21 chemical weapons attack in Syria.

“Let the voices of the people be heard,” Rep. Jones said.
