Who says Barack Obama isn’t doing all he can to help his country?

There are some cynics out there who don’t believe it. Some even suggest he’s doing his best to wreck it.

The facts suggest otherwise.

If the gospels of Matthew and Luke are correct, and one’s heart is where one’s treasure is, then Obama truly loves his country.

What am I talking about?

For several years now, WND has been tracking the administration’s investment in what Michelle Obama calls her husband’s “home country in Kenya.” I don’t call it that, mind you – never have. That’s what Obama’s wife calls it. You can hear it and see it for yourself in the video below.

There’s no question about it. Obama has a special relationship with Kenya – for whatever reason. Mrs. Obama calls it “his home country in Kenya.” I don’t know what that means. You would have to ask her. I have special fondness for some foreign countries – Israel, Lebanon, Scotland, Switzerland. But despite my connections with those countries, my wife would never refer to any of them as my home country. There must be something very special to Obama about Kenya.

Of course, we all know the story of Barack Obama Sr. He was from Kenya. But, he had no fatherly relationship with the son who bears his name. So the connection between Obama and what his wife calls “his home country in Kenya” remains a mystery, raising questions no one dare ask.

While that connection may be unexplained, there is no denying it – at least not on the basis of Obama’s priorities as president.

Let me summarize what WND has found over the years with regard to the projects and spending Obama has directed to Kenya:

• Obama administration spending and projects in Kenya have become so voluminous that the U.S. Agency for International Development must hire more contractors to oversee endeavors other providers already carry out across the African nation. USAID, in its own words, says the “overall USAID/Kenya program has increased rapidly and exponentially, outstripping workforce resources available to effectively perform assessments and rigorous analyses … track results … manage recordkeeping, and other project development and program office functions.” USAID’s $480 million program provides assistant for health, population and HIV/AIDS; basic education; youth; governing justly and democratically; and economic growth, environment and natural resources management, WND’s research has found.
• With all that spending in Kenya, the administration recognizes there is a need to let the people of Kenya know about the largesse and where it comes from. That requires a propaganda effort of significant proportions, WND research has found. But following revelations about that effort by WND, the links that detailed them were all removed from the public view.
• Billions of U.S. and international-donor dollars in recent years have been delivered to Kenya and Tanzania to modernize their national electrical systems, but that isn’t stopping the Obama administration from tapping the U.S. Treasury for more cash for the cause of Kenya’s state-owned energy companies, WND research has found.
• But there’s more. In launching new peace initiatives in and around Kenya, the administration discovered big problems with chronic cattle rustling and other cultural practices – such as killing rivals “to prove their manhood or impress young women” – serve as impediments to progress. So Obama is hiring private contractors that would, hypothetically, offer services such as “reflective workshops” and “trauma education” to warring clans and tribes, WND research has found.
• Could there still be more? Millions of children will be targeted to improve their reading skills over the next five years under a new Obama administration literacy program in nearly 30,000 public and private primary schools – in Kenya. The effort is called the Kenya Early Grade Reading Project. It seeks to implement national curriculum standards, deploy more than 1,000 trainers to assist tens of thousands teachers and improve the ratio of textbooks to students, WND research has found.
• How about $50 million more in U.S. taxpayer assistance to strengthen Kenya’s county governments? Yes we can, WND research has found.
• The programs continue to unfold – sometimes contradicting previous plans. The Obama administration set a $23 million cap on a five-year Evaluation Services and Program Support project to oversee spending in Kenya that has ranged from a high of $830 million in FY 2009 to $460 million in FY2013, WND research has found.
• Broccoli? Yes broccoli. The East Africa Regional Construction initiative overall could cost U.S. taxpayers $210 million. It involves pack-house and cold-storage facility construction “appropriate to the Kenyan rural environment” as a first step. In the request, USAID identified only the Kenyan project that aims to help farmers properly store products such as broccoli, sweet corn, potatoes and peppers, WND research has found.
• Is there enough oversight of all this investment? No, the Obama administration found. Thus it has hired outside contractors for help. A Washington-based consulting firm known for its work with the United Nations Development Program, the European Union and the World Bank has been hired by the administration to monitor, analyze and improve the rapidly growing Kenya-assistance program, WND research has found.
• Not even the government shutdown in Washington could stop the Kenya giving. Just one day prior to the partial government shutdown, the Obama administration slipped in a contract to help Kenyan and other East African power companies more effectively tap into the U.S. Treasury, WND research has found.
• Is there no end to Obama’s commitment to his home country? Apparently not. Though the federal government is struggling to make Obamacare functional for Americans, the administration is simultaneously helping to upgrade the health-care system in Kenya. The ambitious plan to expand health-care and social-services access to millions of Kenyans is one of several recent U.S. endeavors to surface, indicating that yet another spike in assistance to Kenya is taking place, WND research has found.
