In November 2009 after listening to President Obama read a litany of impossible health care promises -- including the now-famous "Nothing in our plan requires you to change what you have" -- Representative Joe Wilson of South Carolina vehemently shouted "You lie!" Wilson was roundly chastised by both parties, but he was ultimately proved right. Obama was lying -- to Congress, to the press, and to the American people. And not just about health care, but about a wide variety of things. Some of the boldest include "Over the next two years, this plan will save or create 3.5 million jobs"; "I intend to close Guantanamo, and I will follow through on that"; "This administration has done more for the security of the state of Israel than any previous administration"; "Under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions, and federal conscience laws will remain in place"; "Transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency"; and of course, "If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period."
