Do you know what liberals really like?
Here’s a hint. It is not freedom and liberty.
Liberals tell us all the time what they want. We just keep ignoring it.
What is the shocking thing a liberal has told us he wants?
Do you remember Jeff Immelt? He is the Chairman of GE and on Barack Obama’s Jobs council that never meets. He was on one of those mind numbing, scratch out the inside of your skull with a dull spoon cable talk shows when he decided to share this bit of wisdom.
“It is good for China. To a certain extent, Charlie, 11 percent is unsustainable. You end up getting too much stimulus or a mis-allocation of resources. They are much better off working on a more consumer-based economy, less dependent on exports. The one thing that actually works, state run communism a bit– may not be your cup of tea, but their government works.”
A leftist praising communism? There’s nothing really new there. But if you understand a little bit about what Immelt is really talking about, you understand what he and many of the leftists really want.
Often you will hear leftists scream about the evil big corporations. The problem leftists have with corporations is not that they are big. They have problems with corporations that are independent of big government.
In China, while there is a nescient free market, the Chinese government controls corporations.
That is what the left wants in America.
While you hear them rant and rave about Wal-Mart, do you hear them ranting and raving about GE? No. Why not?
Because GE is in bed with the government. GE has created the government propaganda channel known as MSNBC. GE bought into the Obama “Green energy” program. What was the result? The government gave GE stimulus money and set up other deals where GE could make a lot of money.
As long as a company is in bed with the government, the left does not care. The left did not complain about Solyndra getting millions from the government. Nor did they complain about A123 or any of the other failed Green Energy companies getting money from the government.
As long as a company plays ball with the government, the left does not care.
Liberals love big government. They love big corporations that are subservient to big government. They hate independent corporations and they hate successful small business.
Why? Because the small businesses are independent and free. Liberals love the progressive income tax because it prevents people from becoming rich. It does nothing to those who are currently rich but it changes the rules. No longer can you get ahead simply on your own merit. No longer can you come into the economy literally penniless and become a millionaire.
Under left wing economics you must be a part of the ruling party and you must have their blessing before you can become wealthy.
The other great danger of the business-government complex is the threat to people’s rights. The businesses in the business-government complex do not like it when mere citizens complain that the government is using their tax dollars to subsidize the business. They do not like it that people have the same rights to petition the government as they do. The businesses in the business-government complex do not like citizens making their own decisions.
Another thing they do not like is the right of a citizen to stand up for himself or herself in court. There is a reason why almost every one of these companies that support Barack Obama and the liberal agenda also support so-called “Tort Reform.” They do not believe in the rights of ordinary citizens.
Unfortunately, many Republicans also buy into the business-government complex. Instead of supporting freedom and liberty, they believe they have to support “business.”
While our freedom does come from the free market and freedom cannot exist without the free market, big businesses are the enemy of the free market. They do not want competition. They want the government to eliminate competition, especially from upstart small companies.
