The health director who approved the release of President Obama’s birth certificate has died in a plane crash, Hawaiian officials said Thursday.

Loretta Fuddy died after the Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft she was travelling on went down shortly after leaving Kalaupapa Airport at around 3:15 p.m. local time (10:15 a.m. ET) on Wednesday.

The other eight people on board were rescued, Richard Schuman, president of Makani Kai Air, told NBC News early Thursday, adding that that there was no indication as to why the plane had crashed.

Fuddy hit the headlines two years ago when she approved a waiver request allowing Obama to access certified copies of his birth certificate, signed by the delivery doctor, Obama’s mother and the local registrar. His mother, then 18, signed her name (Stanley) Ann Dunham Obama.

So-called "birthers" opposed to Obama including real estate mogul Donald Trump had long questioned why Obama hadn't ensured the long form was released.

According to initial news reports, Fuddy was one of eight other people—including the pilot—in the plane and the only person to succumb to her injuries. Fuddy was at the center of controversy in the birth certificate controversy as she was the person who reportedly granted “an exception” to Barack Obama, allegedly witnessing the copying of Obama’s birth certificate and attested to its authenticity. Her involvement in the alleged fraudulent activity pertaining to the long form birth certificate of Barack Hussein Obama, was the discussion of The Hagmann & Hagmann Report , along with numerous others, as detailed in this report.

Summary: When Loretta Fuddy took over, after Palafox’s forced resignation, she had a new BC created for Obama at the request of law enforcement using Stig Waidelich’s BC#.

In order to hide that Obama’s BC# was illegally stolen from Waidelich, she altered at least 3 other BC#’s and fed them to the public via a stunt orchestrated with CNN and Stig and Monica Waidelich, a complicit Johanna Ah Nee, and a death certificate forgery - to try to hide how the BC’s were numbered.

After first conspiring with the AG’s office and Michael Issikof to lay a foundation of lies about what she can lawfully do, she violated the Administrative Rules and at least 3 statutes by instituting an illegal “policy” to keep people from being able to get photocopies/scans of original birth certificates, and at the same time forged and posted a 2001 memo to make it look like the policy had been in effect for a long time – to match the inaccurate statements given by Bob Bauer at the press gaggle. She illegally instituted that policy (by posting the forged memo) on the very day that Obama released his forged long-form image.

But she didn’t get away with it because others at the HDOH followed in the footsteps of the fired Neal Palafox, resisting the lawless deeds they were ordered to do, The clues they left are how we can know what really happened. The next article will be about one very prominent man at the HDOH and how he resisted.

This “accident” is incredible. I thought the Breitbart death was at least a little bit plausible, but to have this person die in a plane crash, in my opinion, is a display of such brazen chutzpah it boggles the mind. They truly feel insulated that nobody will pierce the bubble of silence on this story.

Actually, I suspect that, if this were something other than a simple "accident," it would be indicative of a desperate need to close off, permanently, testimony via live witnesses, to the (yes, I'll freely use the term) CONSPIRACY on the part of HDOH, among others, that Arpaio's Cold Case Posse team is painstakingly compiling evidence of.

Three more years? This "Administration" shouldn't last another three months, if Justice lives still.

If Stig was in on the conspiracy, why would Fuddy have to manipulate 3 BC numbers? Why wouldn’t she just give Stig’s number to Obama and give Stig a new number? If he kept quiet about it, no one would know he has a new number.

This is a message to the people at the HDOH who resisted Fuddy. The Cold Case Posse must be rattling some nerves.

There are 2 people at the HDOH who need protection NOW. If I was Sheriff Joe I would be PERSONALLY flying them out of there and putting them in protective custody.

This is a real blow to Sheriff Arpaio’s investigation and to any possible congressional investigation, but a bullet-proof case that the BC was forged and who did it can still be made without Fuddy’s cooperation. What were the chances that she would ever flip and testify honestly as to what happened?

I am wondering if there is information about Fuddy which can become available now that she is deceased which would have previously been unavailable.

Even though I see this as a highly improbable planned assassination situation scenario, is there any avenue for pushing for an official investigation into whether she was murdered, despite inevitable official obstruction.

Think of all of the mostly infamous corpses that have been exhumed to obtain forensic evidence of possible homicide (Arafat) or other legal claim (body in Oswald’s grave wasn’t Oswald).

Neil Palafox is still out there to shed light on whether his sudden request to withdraw was related to the search for (or forgery of) Barry’s LFBC.

HONOLULU - Interim Hawaii Health Director Dr. Neal Palafox abruptly quit Wednesday, the first of new Gov. Neil Abercrombie’s Cabinet appointees to leave.

The reason for Palafox’s resignation was a mystery, and he wouldn’t say whether he was asked to resign.

Abercrombie’s office said Palafox asked the Democratic governor to withdraw his nomination.

“Gov. Abercrombie accepted Dr. Palafox’s request and will make a new appointment for the Health Director as soon as possible,” spokeswoman Donalyn Dela Cruz said in a statement.

The Attorney General’s office wouldn’t comment on whether it’s investigating Palafox, said Joshua Wisch, special assistant to the attorney general.

Palafox, 58, said he was surprised when he heard TV news reports citing anonymous sources claiming he was under investigation for medical billing fraud.

“I get handed these e-mails about investigations and so forth, but I have no clue. I’m lost,” Palafox said.

University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine Dean Jerris Hedges said the school is unaware of any pending investigation. Hedges said Palafox will return to his job at the school, where he was chairman of the Department of Family Medicine before his nomination.

A key Hawaii official in the dispute over Barack Obama’s birth certificate – who lifted state restrictions to allow the White House to present the document to the public – has died in a plane crash.

Loretta Fuddy, the state health department director, was the only fatality among nine people aboard a Cessna Grand Caravan that went down at about 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday while heading to Honolulu.

Richard Schuman, president of Makani Kai Air, told NBC that the other eight people aboard were rescued from the site of the water crash.

KITV-TV in Honolulu reported Fuddy had been on health department business. Keith Yamamoto, the department’s deputy director, also was aboard and survived.

Makani Kai officials said it was was the company’s first fatality.

WND has reported since before the 2008 election on the dispute over Obama’s birth documentation.

Fuddy took over the agency when Gov. Neil Abercrombie took office. Abercrombie, who claimed to have had a relationship with Obama’s parents in Hawaii as a fellow student, vowed to settle the dispute once and for all but finally gave up, insisting his hands were tied.

Abercrombie told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser regarding Obama’s birth documentation: “It actually exists in the archives, written down.” The London Daily Mail reported, however, Abercrombie “suggested that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health.”

Later, Obama asked for copies of the document, and under Fuddy, the state instantly waived a long-claimed ban on reproducing long-form birth certificates. On Fuddy’s instructions, copies were produced and delivered to Judith Corley, a private attorney for Obama.

Fuddy had written to Obama: “We hope that issuing you these copies of your original Certificate of Live Birth will end the numerous inquiries received by the Hawaii Department of Health to produce this document.”

Immediately after the delivered copy was posted on the White House website, however, numerous computer graphics and software experts declared it fraudulent.

The birth certificate dispute centers on the constitutional requirement that a president be a “natural-born citizen.” Some argue that even if Obama was born in Hawaii, he was does not qualify because his father was a Kenyan citizen.

Still a live issue

The one official law enforcement investigation into the issue, conducted on the orders of Maricopa County, Ariz., Sheriff Joe Arpaio, concluded the document posted by the White House is a forgery.

Arpaio has said the investigation is ongoing, and more evidence has been discovered to bolster his team’s conclusion.

WND reported Mike Zullo, the lead investigator for Arpaio’s Cold Case Posse in Arizona, has contributed evidence to a court case pending before the state Supreme Court in Alabama.

He has testified that the White House computer image of Obama’s birth certificate contains anomalies that are unexplainable unless the document had been fabricated piecemeal by human intervention, rather than being copied from a genuine paper document.

“Mr. Obama has in fact not offered any verifiable authoritative document of any legal significance or possessing any evidentiary value as to the origins of his purported birth narrative or location of the birth event,” he explained. “One of our most serious concerns is that the White House document appears to have been fabricated piecemeal on a computer, constructed by drawing together digitized data from several unknown sources.”

Zullo also has noted that the governor of Hawaii was unable to produce an original birth document for Obama, and it should have been easy to find.

Because the out-of-sequence BC#’s were still problematic. Stig’s BC# was sent to me via an attempted comment on my blog by 6:30am the morning after the blurry CNN clip showed the BC#. My immediate response was that the HDOH must have been in on the stunt. The revelation of Stig’s BC# did not have the effect they wanted it to have, because the credibility of the HDOH was already shot, by that point.

The 4 blatant signs of HDOH forgery on the first 2 lines of Virginia Sunahara’s death certificate have since vindicated that gut-level response. The 2 signs of HDOH forgery on the Ah Nee BC provide further evidence (the overlapping 4 and 9 on the BC#, and the forged Onaka signature). The HDOH has provably altered 2 BC’s that have been used to claim that Obama’s BC# is fine.

Well my first thought is that there has to be an underling at the DOH who was kept quiet but now may feel free to speak. I am sure Zullo would have an idea who might have "wanted" to say something but had not.

The crash was reported at 4:40pm Hawaii time, at http://www.kitv.com/news/hawaii/maka...t/-/index.html
but it was not yet known who was killed. The crash happened about 3:45 so that report wasn’t even a whole hour after the crash occurred, much less was reported to the airport tower and fire and Coast Guard crews out to make the rescues.

At 7:20pm Hawaii time it was reported at http://www.kitv.com/news/hawaii/sour...?absolute=true that Fuddy was the casualty. IIRC that report had a statement from Abercrombie.

It can’t be possible that a person who cooperated in an illegal scheme might turn when she realizes she could face life in prison or a death sentence?

I actually don’t believe they thought she would turn. I believe they used this to silence the 3 people still in Hawaii who have knowledge and could speak.

As to the intimidation, we know it happened. We’ve got the signed statements of the people who were directly threatened.

As to the HDOH falsifying records, we’ve already got the 1960-64 birth index, Virginia Sunahara’s death certificate (containing a TERRITORY OF HAWAII death cert # on a STATE OF HAWAII death certificate - an anomaly that took EXTRA EFFORT for the falsifier at the HDOH to put in there, which is obviously a red flag) and Johanna Ah Nee’s birth certificate with a BC# having digits overlap (an impossibility with a Bates stamp). So we already know the HDOH is falsifying vital records, and it also seems clear that the person doing it is doing it against their will and putting in red flags in protest.

You cited Occam’s Razor. How many “accidents” does it take, involving critical players at critical times, before it takes greater faith to say it’s all coincidence than to realize there’s a pattern? What are the outer limits of Occam?

According to the information given in the Free Republic posts linked in this thread, Attorney Orly Taitz' Press Release occurred Wednesday, 12/11/2013 at about 4:49 am CST (Central Standard Time) and the plane crash was first being reported on the Hawaiian News channels at about 4:25 pm HAST (Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time)

There is a 4 hour difference in time between the two times zones.

(Dec. 12, 2013) — The UK Daily Mail and other news sources have reported that Hawaii Department of Health Director Loretta Fuddy has died in a small plane crash on a return trip from a remote Hawaiian island on Wednesday.

Fuddy was appointed by Gov. Neil Abercrombie and had reportedly made available two certified copies of Barack Hussein Obama’s purported long-form birth certificate to Judith Corley of Perkins Coie on April 25, 2011.

On April 27, an image was posted on the White House website purported to be Obama’s long-form birth certificate acquired by special request from Obama to Fuddy and also through Corley. It was reported that on April 25, “Director Fuddy personally witnessed the copying of the original Certificate of Live Birth and attested to the authenticity of the two copies.”

It has been speculated that Perkins Coie and Fuddy could have been involved in the cover-up surrounding the birth certificate, which has been declared by a law enforcement investigation to be a “computer-generated forgery.” Whether or not the image posted online emanates from the documents provided to Corley is unknown at this time.

On Monday, a video was produced stating that “prosecutions are coming” and that witnesses would be testifying in regard to the birth certificate forgery and cover-up.

Fuddy had replaced Dr. Neal Palafox, who was nominated by Abercrombie but after three weeks withdrew his name from consideration. At the same time, Abercrombie had publicly resolved to locate Obama’s elusive long-form birth certificate. After a few days, however, Abercrombie said that he was unable to find it but affirmed that there was a notation of Obama’s birth in the “archives.” That reference could have been to the 1961-64 Birth Index, which a researcher sponsored by The Post & Email and a private citizen viewed during the summer of 2010.

Abercrombie reportedly told CNN that he was “there when he [Obama] was born [in Hawaii],” but the criminal investigation carried out by the Cold Case Posse revealed that there is no record of Obama having been present in the state before the age of five.

In January 2011, Abercrombie had said that “theories” that Obama was “not a U.S. citizen” could be put to rest by producing the original long-form certificate. Article II, Section 1, clause 5 of the U.S. Constitution requires the president to be a “natural born Citizen,” not simply “a citizen,” as is required of representatives, senators and governors.

On April 22 of that year, Corley reportedly traveled to Honolulu to obtain the two certified copies from the Hawaii Department of Health, on which Fuddy had released an official statement. On April 27, an image was posted on the White House website which was declared fraudulent in a public press conference by the Cold Case Posse on March 1, 2012.

Cold Case Posse lead investigator has reported that his sources say that regarding Obama, “there never was a birth in Hawaii.”

In December 2011, Fuddy was named as a defendant in a lawsuit compelling the Health Department to release Obama’s official records. She was also named as the defendant in the case of Duncan Sunahara, who sought a certified copy of his deceased sister’s long-form birth certificate. Investigators suspect Ms. Sunahara’s birth certificate could have been utilized to provide Obama with an approximate birth certificate number for the time in which he claims he was born.

A Notice of Commission of felonies has been filed with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington in Seattle and appealed to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals by petitioner Douglas Vogt. Included in the filing is a sealed affidavit containing the names of those Vogt believes created the forgery and assisted in perpetrating the conspiracy to purposely mislead the public about Obama’s birthplace.

The number on Obama’s birth certificate is out of sequence for his alleged birth on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu. Virginia Sunahara was born on the same day and lived less than 24 hours due to breathing complications.

Fuddy was reportedly the only casualty out of a total of nine people on the plane. The crash reportedly occurred near the Kalaupapa Peninsula. The Health Department Director is also mayor of Kalaupapa by state statute.

In 2011, The Post & Email had attempted to obtain a copy of Fuddy’s professional schedule through a UIPA request but was denied on the basis that Fuddy’s personal and professional schedules were combined and shared only with her private secretary. The public schedule of her predecessor, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, had been provided by the Health Department after Founder John Charlton had requested it through a previous UIPA submission.

The Coast Guard engaged in a rescue operation after the plane was spotted by a pilot flying another plane on a similar return flight to Honolulu.

Fuddy was 65. The Health Department does not appear to have posted a notice on her passing as of press time.

There is a reason they would want to intimidate through Fuddy’s death. There are still 3 people in Hawaii who they desperately need to keep quiet.

And this thing would take 2 actions: something to cause the engine to fail (and of course the federal agency in charge of investigating won’t retrieve the wreckage to find out if it was sabotaged...), and something to make Fuddy’s seatbelt “stick”. (Again, sabotage can’t be checked out because the federal agency will not retrieve the wreckage.

Those 2 things in place, to everybody there including the pilot it would seem like a “normal” crash. Having everybody else escape and Fuddy’s seatbelt not work - in full view of the deputy director who would have to carry on her deceit - would get the intended message across.

Means, motive, and opportunity are all there.

And before you say that this regime would never do that, you need to look at Fast & Furious, Benghazi, Extortion 17, IRS-gate, the Boston Marathon bombing and the “Saudi person of interest who got away”, etc. You need to read up and find out about Bill Gwatney being killed by a “random” shooting within days of saying he’d present a petition at the 2008 Dem Convention so Hillary could show her evidence of Obama’s ineligibility, and then Stephanie Tubbs keeling over from an aneurysm within days of agreeing to take Gwatney’s place...

There’s a lot you need to read up on, I suspect.

The democrat CEO of this company, Richard Schuman, seems to be making a lot of contradictory statements. I hope they are taking his testimony.

He also seems to be shielding his pilot. The press knows who this pilot is, and if there was catastrophic engine failure there should be no shame in saying who this guy is because he was a victim just like everybody else. Seems like Schuman is fudging around trying to explain away why this pilot didn’t call for help if he knew that his engine was failing/had failed, but the pilot needs to be asked that directly. Not that I trust the feds to get to the honest truth of the story.

They’re going to say it was a heart attack.

An early report cited a Honolulu fire department chief saying that Fuddy was found in the fuselage. The Coast Guard from Honolulu conducted rescue operations but I think it was the Maui fire department who also conducted rescue operations. Why the reporter quoted the Honolulu fire chief or where that fire chief got his info from, I don’t know, but that was the report that confused things a lot.

Someone in another thread gave a link to an article with quotes from the Coast Guard rescuer who found Fuddy about 200 yards from the nearest survivor. He said the survivors were not panicked but were glad to see help arrive. Said the navy had flares to show the Coast Guard where to look so they were able to find the wreck easily, about 30 minutes after the crash. There was some wind, he said, and waves about 6 ft high but nothing major.

Yamamoto said he helped Fuddy get her life jacket on and held her hand to calm her down. Seems like she was the one person on board who was panicked even as she was safely in the water with her life jacket. She had no visible injuries, according to the guy who found her, but he knew immediately that she was dead because she didn’t respond. The autopsy will say she had a heart attack, I’m sure.

“The dead cannot cry out for justice. It is a duty of the living to do so for them.” This quote is attributed to American author Lois Bujold, and should remind us that it is our responsibility to seek truth not just for ourselves, but for those who have been silenced by death.

The precursor to justice is truth. Those who purposely suppress truth, betray justice not only for the dead, but for the living as well. It is in this context that we have a moral obligation to Loretta Fuddy, the director of the Hawaii Department of Health, as well as to every American, to seek the truth of her death as the result of a plane crash on Wednesday.

Loretta Fuddy was the sole fatality of the nine occupants of a 2002 Cessna Grand Caravan single-engine turboprop aircraft that crashed into the ocean shortly after takeoff from Kalaupapa Airport on the island of Molokai in Hawaii. The reports surrounding her death are as murky as the reports of her alleged involvement in the creation of a falsified federal document of unprecedented significance, the Certificate of Live Birth (COLB) of Barack Hussein Obama.

It is alleged that Ms. Fuddy played a key role in the authentication, and perhaps even in the creation of the document that was presented to America as being the certified birth record of a sitting U.S. president. It is that certified record that has been determined by many experts, including those retained by a commissioned law enforcement investigative body, to be a forged and fraudulent document. At the very least, Loretta Fuddy would have been a critical witness in a high crime of treason and other felonies against all Americans. Under these circumstances, is it not mandatory for responsible citizens to question the circumstances of her mysterious death? Do we not have a responsibility as Americans to insist on the truth, considering the current state as well as the fate of our nation?

Research into the death of Loretta Fuddy must begin with her life following her appointment as the director of the Hawaii Department of Health. She was appointed as director by Governor Neil Abercrombie on March 2, 2011. Ms. Fuddy had been acting health director from January, 2011 when the governor’s original nominee, Dr. Neal Palafox, withdrew his name at Abercrombie’s request. The circumstances of that political decision remained mired in controversy as well.

Ms. Fuddy’s appointment occurred during the groundswell of demands for Obama to produce his long form birth certificate, a document that supposedly resided in the interim chambers of the Hawaii Department of Health. As calls for the release of Obama’s records increased, Ms. Fuddy reportedly changed the policy of her department. At some point between mid March through the first week of April, she quietly instituted a policy that would deny requestors the ability to obtain certified copies of their birth certificate, and changed the internal request forms as well. This change served Obama well, as his assistants cited this “longstanding” policy as the reason for being unable to produce the requested documentation. By stealth, Ms. Fuddy was now the sole guardian of birth records.

This policy change resulted in the theatrical production publicly profiled for all to see. Hawaii was granting an exception to Obama and his personal attorney to satisfy the insatiable, if not completely unreasonable demands by the now marginalized and maligned “birthers,” a pejorative term made up to characterize anyone who had the audacity to question the bona fides of Barack Hussein Obama. During this play production, arrangements were made for the Hawaii Department of Health to furnish the COLB to Obama’s attorney. For reasons for which no one seems to be interested, Corely flew to Hawaii to personally pick up the COLB

Ms. Fuddy’s public notoriety was elevated, and her place in history forever memorialized, when she authorized the release of Barack Obama’s Certificate of Live Birth (COLB) at his request. On April 25, 2011, she certified that she witnessed the copying of the original COLB. The document that was certified as a true copy by Ms. Fuddy was handed to Judith Corely, Barack Obama’s personal attorney, when Corely made a special trip to personally pick up the document instead of sending the document by a private courier, such as Federal Express.

It is that very document that was presented at a press gaggle shortly before 9:00 a.m. ET on April 27, 2011. It is this document that remains at the center of controversy with regard to its authenticity. It is this document, certified by Ms. Fuddy, that a number of experts claim is a blatant forgery. Now, Ms. Fuddy is no longer able to answer any questions about her role in the certification of this document.

It is within this context that every American should consider the potential ramifications of a forgery, especially as it relates to the already questionable background of the man seated in the highest office in America. By extension, it is not unreasonable to question the very suspicious events surrounding the plane crash that took only one life of nine aboard the plane - the life of the very person of significance to the unresolved issue of forgery. While many will correctly assert that accidents happen, and even freak circumstances take place, history also documents the nefarious activity of others related to occurrences of equal import.
Accident report curiosities

First public news reports of the plane crash in which Ms. Fuddy was a passenger began circulating at about 4:00 p.m. local time. The initial details were sketchy as first reports usually are. However, one eyewitness report originated from the pilot of a plane who observed the wreckage. The pilot reportedly observed eight-(8) people wearing life jackets floating in a field of debris at the approximate location where the plane struck the water. Initial news reports also stated that Ms. Fuddy failed to escape the passenger compartment of the plane, which would support the first and perhaps the most credible eyewitness account, as it came from a trained pilot circling the crash site. An initial statement by the Maui Fire Department also supports the report that Ms. Fuddy never made it out of the plane.

A statement was also made by Honolulu Fire Capt. Terry Seelig, who first reported that there was a fatality, according to KHON News.

“That person remained in the fuselage of the plane. Not much details. Always a difficult situation when you can’t get everyone out, and unfortunately that was the case here.”

KHON-2 News also reported that the plane “crashed in waters a 1/2 mile off of the north shore of Molokai. Specifically, they stated that the Maui Fire Department and two U.S. Coast Guard helicopters quickly got to the scene, rescuing eight-(8) people who got out of the plane.”

Early reports from the same news agency also provided additional insight:

“Nine people were onboard when the plane took off. One person was pronounced dead, three were flown to Honolulu and taken by ambulance to the Queens Medical Center. Another three stayed on Molokai and were hospitalized. The rest did not need any medical help.”

Consider this early report with public statements made by the Hawaii Department of Health. This agency maintained — for nearly four hours after the crash, that Ms. Fuddy and deputy director Keith Yamamoto, also a passenger on the plane, were alive. The significance of this assertion will become evident as the various accounts are considered with what was known at the time of the accident or shortly thereafter.

As already referenced but now stated in more detail, initial news reports announced that “three passengers were pulled from the water by the two Coast Guard helicopters, and Maui fire crews picked up ‘others. One crash survivor swam ashore.”

Despite these eyewitness and official accounts of Ms. Fuddy not making it out of the interior of the downed plane, ABC News reported several hours later the following account:

“In the final moments of her life, Hawaii Health Director Loretta Fuddy clung to the hand of her deputy after a small plane taking them back to Honolulu crashed in the ocean off the island of Molokai.

“In the water, Fuddy held hands with deputy director Keith Yamamoto as he tried to help her relax, said the Rev. Patrick Killilea, who consoled Yamamoto after the ordeal.”

“He recounted how he said he helped Loretta into her life jacket and he held her hand for some time,” the priest said. “They were all floating together and she let go and there was no response from her.”

At first, one might conclude that the “soul count” of survivors from the air by the circling pilot did not include the “swimmer,” thereby explaining the report of “eight-(8) people in life vests” in the water. When considered in the context of that report and the description of the scene offered via radio by the pilot circulating above, however, this theory is inconsistent with the timing of the circling plane.

Among the first news reports, it was disclosed that Fuddy’s deputy Keith Yamamoto, dressed in blue swim trunks and a tee shirt, was seen being driven away from Makani Air’s Honolulu Airport headquarters at about 7:00 p.m. local time, a full hour before the Hawaii Department of Health made the death of Ms. Fuddy public.

The article quotes the NTSB person but this isn’t being done by the NTSB; it’s being done by the insurance company. The NTSB says they are waiting to hear the results of the autopsy. The autopsy shouldn’t have anything to do with why the engine failed - and if it does, it should be law enforcement that investigates the connection between her death and the plane’s engine failure.

By saying they are waiting for the results of the autopsy it seems to me that the NTSB is looking for an excuse to not investigate any further. Get a coroner to say there were no poisons in Fuddy’s body, and then you can say it doesn’t matter why the engine failed because it probably wasn’t foul play. But the NTSB is not law enforcement. They are supposed to find out what causes crashes, period - whether or not foul play is likely.

The wreckage needs to be recovered from a safety standpoint (which the NTSB is supposed to be about) because this is the 2nd Cessna engine failure in this area within 50 days of each other - doubling the number of engine failures accumulated for that engine over the last 34 years. The earlier incident off of Maui on Oct 21 gave the NTSB a fully-intact aircraft where it was known that engine failure was the problem. All they need to investigate is the condition of the engine. It’s been 2 months now and they’ve still not identified what caused that engine to fail.

If I was the insurer I’d sure as heck want to know what happened. Especially since the pilot who flew the Fuddy plane is not a pilot for Makani Kai Air, as claimed in all the news stories. The company’s website listing staff has been changed at least once since the crash and STILL doesn’t list Clyde Kawasaki as a pilot for them. Right now they’ve got 2 different pages listing some different pilots. Both pages have been updated within the past 3 months, and yet neither page lists Kawasaki as a pilot for them. In the 2 years that Schuman says Kawasaki’s been flying for them, Kawasaki has NEVER been listed as their pilot.

Kawasaki had flown for Aloha Airlines, we are told. Aloha Airlines went into bankruptcy several years ago and the company that ended up mostly taking over was associated with Mokulele, which was the company that had this other Cessna engine failure 50 days before the Fuddy crash. The pilots in that crash were loudly praised but never publicly named. I’m told that sometimes air companies borrow from each other in the practical daily workings. Mokulele is one of the airlines that flies Cessnas from the Molokai airport. If Kawasaki is actually a pilot for Mokulele and was just borrowed by Schumer’s company for that flight, that would mean the 2 Cessna engine failures within 50 days both happened with a Mokulele pilot flying the Cessna. Mokulele doesn’t list their pilots anywhere that I can find.

The commuter airlines are a big business in Hawaii, and the competition is cut-throat, as evidenced by the lawsuits, bankruptcy deals, etc that have plagued the industry within the last 5 years. There are all kinds of motives for foul play, and Fuddy’s family, the pilots, the airline companies, and the insurers for those companies deserve answers.

I wonder how common it is for fully submerged planes to resurface after a day or two. I’ve read that the waters are deep there. If the plane sunk to the bottom there would be a long way for it to go, to get back to the surface where it could be seen from a helicopter.

Here is my report:

2013 12 16 @ 2215

Richard Schuman returned my call from earlier in the morning and my second call in the afternoon. Schuman is the owner of Makani Kai Air. Here is the information I gathered from the phone conversation:

*The plane is down in about 75 feet of water. It is an area where the wave action can be extreme. The wave action is currently in that state. The plane can be seen from the air and is intact.

*The insurance Schuman carries provides for recovery of the plane. He has talked to a salvage company and it is likely the plane will be recovered. It will be floated to the surface and lifted with a crane onto a barge or large ship.

*The engine on the plane is a pratt and whitney PT-6. It is basically a jet engine with a prop (TURBO-PROP). Schuman indicated that the pilot heard a bang. In a jet engine the blades are spinning at a very high rate of speed to the order of 25,000 RPM. A turbine blade failure at this high speed would cause a catastrophic failure to the engine. He suspects a blade failure to be the cause.

*Schuman reported that similar failures were reported on similar engines within the last couple of months. He pointed to Malkali Air (spelling ??) with airplanes with a similar engine experienced a similar failure at 7,000 feet.

*Schuman is anxious to have the plane salvaged and the engine analyzed by experts. Prat and Whitney is showing little interest in the accident.

*The plane was flying out of an uncontrolled airport. In other words there was no tower or humans controlling the landings and takeoffs.

*Immediately after the failure a “MAYDAY” was signaled. A friend of Schuman flying in the area responded and reached the scene quickly after the crash landing. Schuman and the friend were in radio contact with each other. The friend reported 9 bobbing vests. As Schulman said: 8 +1 eight passengers and the pilot.

The circling airplane was relieved by a coast guard aircraft that reported the same information. Nine bobbing life vests.

*Schuman blamed the pilot for speaking from the hip and reporting one passenger in the fuselage. Schuman claimed everyone survived the crash landing and made it safely to the water as reported by his pilot friend and the coast guard.

*I asked if Johanna Randolph was on the plane. He thought for awhile and said that the name did not sound familiar.

* Schuman does not suspect foul play. He thinks that the autopsy will show that Fuddy died from a heart attack or stroke.

*Schuman said there are rumors on the island that someone might be trying to kill Fuddy because she supported gay marriage. He said that was non-sense.

*I asked if he knew Fuddy to be gay. He said he did not know. He did not know where she lived.

I am familiar with Turbo-prop planes. I flew then in the navy and sold turbine blades after my military service. When I flew the last time I actually moved to a different seat because I was sitting next to the jet engine and I did not like the fact that I was so close to the spinning blades. At 25,000 RPM a failed blade will rip apart an engine.

Schuman impressed me as a solid individual.
