Fox News Channel host Bill O’Reilly joined the hosts of Fox & Friends on Tuesday to discuss his interview with President Barack Obama and the president’s regular criticisms of Fox’s coverage of his administration. O’Reilly said that the president attacked Fox’s coverage of the response to the Benghazi attack or the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of conservatives because he really does not believe those issues are “that important.”
Asked if he was surprised by Obama’s repeated assertion that both Fox and O’Reilly were not fair to him, the Fox host said that the president was talking about the network’s track record over the course of his presidency. “He just doesn’t believe that the stories and the questions that we brought up,” O’Reilly said, “he doesn’t believe that they’re that important.”
“It’s an annoyance to him that I ask him questions and that Fox News concentrates on these stories because he himself doesn’t believe they’re important,” O’Reilly said.
Host Steve Doocy said that the president may be listening to his allies who call issues like the response to Benghazi and the IRS’s targeting “phony scandals”
