Obama makes ‘birther’ joke at correspondents’ dinner

    The Hill

    Meghashyam Mali
    4/28/2012

    Excerpt:

"President Obama mocked critics who question his birthplace during his joke-filled speech during Saturday's White House Correspondents' Association Dinner in Washington.

"We gather in the midst of a heated election season, and Axelrod tells me I should never miss a chance to reintroduce myself to the American people," said Obama in his opening remarks.

"My name is Barack Obama. My mother was born in Kansas, my father was born in Kenya, and I was born, of course, in Hawaii," he added, turning to the camera and winking."

    My Comments:

    1. Hmmmmm! Perhaps the customary MSM 'mock the birther's' activity is starting to get a bit uncomfortable and hard for them to justify!

It's interesting to me that, although there was SOME mention in the press concerning Obama's 'wink, wink' joke regarding his 'birth in Hawaii' this year at the annual WH Correspondent's Dinner, the 'joke' was completely ignored by some major players, such as the New York Times, Washington Post, Huffington Post, and Daily Beast (linked below).

Perhaps the topic is not seen as being quite so 'cool' as it did before Sheriff Arpaio's March 1st news conference where the phrase -- "probable cause exists indicating that forgery and fraud may have been committed" -- was used in describing Obama's LFBC released 4/27/2011 on the official White House website.

Are a few of the better informed 'rats' on the proverbial 'sinking ship' starting to pack their bags and think about scurrying to some illusionary place of safety?

    2. Obama also alluded to Sarah Palin's recent hosting of "Today" in his delivery of the pathetically un-funny: "What's the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? A pit bull is delicious."

Perhaps the folks at PETA will cease giving Obama a pass on this whole, unsavory topic of 'dog as dinner'. They conveniently explained away his 'boy eats dog' comment in 'Dreams' by blaming the sin on the parents. However, Obama has now stepped directly into the 'doggie doo' by, as an adult, jokingly declaring at a well publicized event that 'dog meat is delicious'.

Unlike Ms. Palin's joke, which humorously praised the qualities of aggressiveness and determination exhibited by both 'pit bull dogs' and 'soccer moms', Obama's 'joke' managed to simultaneously insult and anger both 'dog lovers' and 'moms', two important constituencies!

--- BAD MISTAKE, and I predict he will soon rue the day he said this! What a doofus!

Use the authentic 'Lucas Daniel Smith, Obama Kenyan Birth Certificate' to convince the American People to ratchet up the pressure on the:

--- No-Longer-Cool, 'Dog is Delicious' Declaring, Marxist 'Manchurian' Muslim from Mombasa!

Obama: 'I was born in Hawaii,' wink, wink

Invites reporters to join with him in joke on American people

      WND

      Drew Zahn
      4/29/2012

      Excerpt:

"Barack Obama opened last night’s White House Correspondents Dinner – an annual chuckle-fest with D.C. reporters and pop culture celebrities – with a pair of jokes and a wink about his supposed Hawaii birthplace.

He began with more veiled joke alluding to April 28 of last year, when the White House released to the press a copy of his purported long-form birth certificate, a move prompted in part by calls from Donald Trump to see evidence of Obama’s eligibility to be president.

“My fellow Americans, we gather during a historic anniversary,” Obama said. “Last year at this time, in fact on this very weekend, we finally delivered justice to one of the world’s most notorious individuals.”

Video screens in the room then flashed a photo of Trump.

Obama then explained he was advised to “reintroduce himself” to America.

“My name is Barack Obama. My mother was born in Kansas. My father was born in Kenya. And I was born, of course,” the sitting president said with a mischievous, knowing wink, “in Hawaii.”

The White House continues to point to the released document as proof of Obama’s birth in Hawaii, despite dozens of lawsuits and an investigation by Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio suggesting Obama’s eligibility is no laughing matter.

Dog-eating jokes are the main course at press dinner

          MSN NOW

          4/29/2012

"From the Secret Service to the Kardashians, everything was fair game at the annual White House Correspondents' dinner. But the featured item on the menu was dog ... jokes -- which figured, since Barack Obama's old admission to eating dog as a child was just recently revived as a campaign sideshow. "Last week we learned that the president's two favorite steaks are rib eye and seeing eye," cracked comedian Jimmy Kimmel, the evening's host. But even Kimmel got a taste that it's tough to work a room better than the Obama himself. The president touched on Sarah Palin's recent hosting of "Today" to segue into the night's toughest line: "What's the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? A pit bull is delicious."

            Humor is ridicule Marxist style

            Canada Free Press

            Judi McLeod
            4/30/2012

            Excerpts:

"It starts with President Barack Obama kickstarting toilet humor at the White House Correspondence dinner Saturday night: “What’s the difference between a hockey mom and pit bull? A pit bull is delicious,” is joking uncouth Barry Soetoro style.
            .................................................. ...

“President Obama Opened Correspondents’ Dinner with a Toilet Flush….Really” was the headline on the Blaze, April 29, 2012.

Everyone who saw it would get the analogy of a United States in the toilet with the man who put it there now a standing comedian mocking and laughing in reverie of his work.

“President Obama‘s presentation started with a little sketch that poked fun at his recent ’hot mic‘ episode with Russia’s Dmitry Medvedev by having the audience believe that we were listening to the leader of the free world complaining about having to be at this dinner, while sitting on a toilet. That portion ended with a flush and Obama craving a cigarette,” said the Blaze.

“It’s not often that we get to see the most powerful man in the world tell jokes about eating dogs, craving cigarettes and imposing his rumored “radical socialist agenda” on the country. And yet, last night in Washington, D.C., we were treated to just that. Wait, let’s not forget the toilet flush. Did we really need to envision the president sitting on the toilet, seconds before he was to address the White House Press Corps?"

Jimmy Kimmel riffs on President Obama, N.J. Gov. Chris Christie at White House dinner

                Washington Post

                Excerpts:

After President Obama’s opening, Kimmel took over the mic, turning the jokes back on the president, the Associated Press reports:
                .................................................. ................

“You know the real reason people thought you were from Kenya had nothing to do with your birth certificate. Correction: Obama IS too cool to joke about

                  Examiner

                  Howard Portnoy, Manhattan Conservative Examiner
                  4/25/2012

                  Excerpt:

"My bad. Last July I penned a column that challenged the conventional wisdom that Barack Obama was too cool to joke about. It turns out I was mistaken. Mediaite’s Noah Rothman writes that “opinion leaders” Jimmy Kimmel and the Chris Cillizza (a writer for the Washington Post) both recently observed “within 24 hours of one another … that Obama maintains a monopoly on cool.”

While I can’t say I’m that familiar with the work of Chris Cillizza, I am acquainted with the oeuvre of Jimmy Kimmel, whose CV includes that laugh riot The Man Show. Kimmel may not know that much about politics, but he’s an expert on cool. A regular doctor of coolology he is. And according to Kimmel, the president is one cool daddy-o. OK, I’m exaggerating: Kimmel didn’t really say daddy-o.

He did, however, say in an interview with Reuters that “It's hard to make fun of Obama in general because he's a cool character. Outside of his ears, there's not a whole lot.” If one wanted to be catty, one might add that "inside his ears…." But I digress.

Hmm. Fancy that. So when Obama intones the names of foreign places (well, most foreign places—he says Afghanistan like everybody else) with the foolishly exaggerated accent of someone struggling to appear erudite and worldly, Kimmel sees no comedic grist. Nor apparently does he find any yuk potential in Obama’s many Bushisms (“I don’t know what the term [for wheeling and dealing] is in Austrian,” “We’re the country that built the Intercontinental Railroad,” Cinco de Cuatro”).

Apparently, wearing “mom jeans” and a fielder’s glove to throw out a ceremonial first pitch and then delivering said pitch like a girl doesn’t float Kimmel’s boat, either. And if you don’t see any humor in that, you’re certainly not going to suppress a snicker when the president, posing for a group portrait of world leaders, sticks his hand up to wave just as the shutter is being snapped and obscures the face of the dignitary standing next to him. Anyone else committing a boo-boo of this magnitude would seem like a gigantic doofus, but Obama’s coolness obviously spares him ridicule."

Brokaw: White House Correspondents' dinner hurting the press

                    The Washington Times

                    David Eldridge
                    5/6/2012

                    Excerpt:

"Former "NBC Nightly News" anchor Tom Brokaw said Sunday that the glitzy annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner is damaging the perception of the press among the American public.

"It's time to rethink that," the longtime newsman said Sunday in an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press."

He said the annual black-tie affair, which features Washington reporters and editors drinking, joking and partying with Hollywood stars and the city's top lawmakers -- including the president -- is contributing to the public's mistrust of the media.

"If there’s ever an event that separates the press from the people they’re supposed to be serving, symbolically, it is that one." he said."
