Police Officer Assaulted, Punches Thrown After San Jose Trump Rally

    CBS SF Bay Area

    6/2/2016

    Excerpt:

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) — A few hundred protesters fought with supporters of Donald Trump after the presidential candidate’s rally in San Jose Thursday night.

Over a dozen fights broke out in the crowd.

Punches were thrown, violence erupted. Even police had to retreat.

The San Jose Police Department made a number of arrests after the Trump Rally and said an officer was assaulted.

Protesters followed Trump supporters to their cars as they left the convention center. Around the corner and away from police protection on San Carlos Street, a mob mentality took over.

A young man wearing a “Build The Wall” T-shirt was assaulted by several young men. Fearing for the man’s safety, KPIX 5 reporter Len Ramirez yelled at him to get away.

For several minutes, there was no police presence and protesters thumped Trump supporters’ cars in the parking garage as they tried to leave.

San Jose Mayor Justifies Mob Violence

    The Weekly Standard

    by Ethan Epstein
    6/3/2016

    Excerpt:

Thousands of Americans participated in that most benign of civic rituals in San Jose, California, on Thursday night: seeing a presidential candidate speak. Of course, that candidate was Donald Trump, so as these engaged citizens streamed out of the arena, they were subjected to astonishing levels of violence. An angry mob pelted eggs, tomatoes, and bottles at the spectators—as well as the police, who tried (and failed) to maintain some semblance of order. Other Trump supporters were set upon and punched. One was left with blood streaming down his face. (See representative video ...)

The mayor of San Jose, Democrat Sam Liccardo, reacted angrily to the events. Not that he was particularly upset at the violent mob that attacked innocent Americans, of course. No, his ire was directed at Mr. Trump. "At some point Donald Trump needs to take responsibility for the irresponsible behavior of his campaign," the mayor said. Apparently it was downright "irresponsible" of Trump to even set foot in California's third largest city.

San Jose Police Chief Who Admits ALLOWING ATTACKS on Trump Supporters is Affiliated With La Raza

      Gateway Pundit

      Aleister
      6/5/2016

      Excerpt:

The San Jose police department is under increasing scrutiny over charges that they allowed Trump supporters to be attacked by violent rioters following a Trump event.

The police chief Eddie Garcia has adamantly denied the charges.

      The Mercury News reported:

"San Jose police chief defends officers accused of failing to protect Trump supporters from violence

A day after a melee erupted outside a Donald Trump rally, the San Jose police chief and mayor on Friday defended themselves from a national backlash over their handling of the dramatic and at times violent protest.

On radio talk shows and across social media, some called for Mayor Sam Liccardo’s resignation because of his comments suggesting that Trump was to blame for igniting violence, while police were criticized for failing to protect Trump supporters from angry protesters throwing punches, water bottles and traffic cones. Some videos showed those attacks and suggested they were unprovoked, but others showed Trump supporters taunting protesters, ripping their Dump Trump signs and throwing the first punches.

While it appeared to many onlookers that police allowed the violence to proceed unchecked, San Jose police Chief Eddie Garcia insisted that it was more important for police to hold their “skirmish line” formations than to stop individual attacks. Four arrests were made.

“We are not an ‘occupying force’ and cannot reflect the chaotic tactics of the protesters,” Garcia told reporters. Unless a victim’s life was in peril or the violence was “spiraling out of control,” he said, officers held back to avoid inciting more violence and having the crowd turn on officers. He also said the 250 police weren’t enough to control the roughly 400 protesters."
