Hempstead, New York (CNN) – Give a slight edge to President Barack Obama.

Forty-six percent of voters who watched Tuesday night's presidential debate said that the president won the showdown, according to a CNN/ORC International nationwide poll conducted right after Tuesday night's faceoff here at Hofstra University on New York's Long Island. Thirty-nine percent questioned said Republican nominee Mitt Romney did the better job.

Michelle Obama Broke Agreed Upon Rules, Clapped At Debate

At the second presidential debate on Tuesday night, a camera caught first lady Michelle Obama clapping after moderator Candy Crowley told Republican presidential candidate Gov. Mitt Romney that President Obama called the Benghazi attack an "act of terror" soon after the attack on the U.S. consulate.

Nearly all of the audible applause came from those sitting away from the actual debate, but when FOX News' camera shot moved to a bird's-eye view it became apparent that the only applause from the participating debate audience came from first lady Michelle Obama. Mitt Romney's wife Ann was also sitting with the debate participants.

According to the rules both campaigns agreed to, or the memorandum of understanding (MOA), there is to be no clapping from members of the debate audience.

"President Barack Obama “point-blank lied” about Libya during the presidential debate Tuesday night, Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee, told Newsmax TV, and he will not get away with it.

“I think the president indicted himself” on the Libya issue, Priebus said. “He point-blank lied on Libya. He never called it a terrorist attack. At the end of the speech in the Rose Garden, he said that ‘Acts of terror won’t shake the nation,’ then he went on seven times and talked about the fact that this thing was from a YouTube video. So he’s not going to get away with this. This is going to be circling the president now for days and days, so in any event, I thought it was a great night.”

Priebus said the Libya issue will carry on to the next debate.

“I think it’s going to keep being discussed,” he said. “But the issue with this president is not only has everything gone wrong domestically, but now we’re seeing his foreign policy is no better. So overall you have to look at this president’s record and say, ‘Hey what have you done well?’ There’s very little to point to.”

He continued, “Whenever Gov. Romney starts indicting the president as to just where we are and the facts, where we are with your promises, why he didn’t get it done, it is very bad for this president, and he’s defenseless to the truth of where we’re at in this economy.”

"President Obama is not just wasting money. President Obama is borrowing money from China, first, and then turning around and wasting the money."

Overall, Priebus said, “I thought it was a great night for Gov. Romney, a great night in laying out the plan, laying out a vision. A horrible night for Barack Obama. No comeback on where we are in this economy. He was totally indicted on the truth as to where we are at in this economy. He point-blank lied on Libya, which he’s going to have to deal with, so now his Libya headache is going to be worse.”
