  • ITB - Thoughts on Herman Cain being selected as the Republican VP Nominee

    Hmmmmmm!

Check out Herman Cain's new, rather sophisticated website and planned activities at:

    http://cainconnections.com/home

--- and his planned Bus Tour!

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0112/71098.html

    What does it all mean?

'Intrade' is currently (1/5/2012) giving Herman Cain only a 0.3% chance of being declared the Republican VP nomenee . Those are pretty long odds, but I wonder if that unlikely scenario might actually occur.

    http://www.intrade.com/v4/markets/co...tractId=747146

I am certainly NOT in favor of any of the following, but am simply trying to look at things realistically.

I presume the PTB will select Mitt Romney (currently given a 79% chance on intrade) as the Republican Presidential nominee. After all, he is generally considered to be 'Obama Lite' politically. He would be expected to capture most of the Republican 'establishment' votes, the center-to-left liberal wing Republican votes, and some 'cross-over' (sick-of-Obama) Democratic votes.

I believe Herman Cain, as the VP nominee, could be considered 'Obama Dark' racially. As such, he would be expected to capture a rather significant fraction of the Black vote, the still-trying-to-apologize-for-slavery White vote, and the right-wing Republican vote.

Sounds like a winning combination to me!

The odds favoring a Republican 'Romney/Cain' ticket are certainly not good, but I think the combination conceivably COULD occur. Furthermore, I think the possibility of this happening has been enhanced with the launch of Cain's new sophisticated, nationally-oriented website and his plan for a 'Bus Tour'!

Someone here on this awesome new InspectorSmith Forum needs to start distributing ample quantities of both 'popcorn' and 'barf-bags' so we can be properly equipped to handle the November 2012 election!

I don't want to see Romney as the nominee at all. I do not trust him..he's too slick. Actually, he and el-skunko are different sides of the same coin and we've had enough of that coin.

Herman Cain: I'll make an 'unconventional' endorsement before SC votes - Hot Air

Herman Cain: I’ll make an “unconventional” endorsement two days before South Carolina votes

      Hot Air

      Allahpundit
      1/6/2012

      Excerpt:

"The primary’s on Saturday the 21st. He’s promising to endorse on Thursday the 19th at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference, which happens to be hosting a presidential debate that same day. He’s timing it for maximum impact, in other words, right down to his choice of which primary to target: As a Georgia native, he might have a bit more sway over voters in SC than he would have had over Iowans, assuming he has any sway left over anyone.

Question: Who would value his endorsement the most? Perry’s desperate for positive buzz of any kind but Cain’s already ruled him and Ron Paul out. Huntsman would kill for some southern cred before the big vote but he’s guaranteed to be a longshot in SC. Why waste an endorsement on him if you’re Cain? The choice is between Romney, whom he endorsed four years ago, Santorum, and his buddy Newt. If he backs Romney, he gets the thanks of a likely nominee and possible future president for giving him a shot of grassroots appeal before the big vote. If he backs Santorum and Santorum pulls the upset, he gets to say he played conservative kingmaker (rightly or wrongly). Same is true if he backs Newt and Newt ends up edging out Santorum, and Newt would be especially grateful both for Cain’s vote of confidence and for the loyal friendship. I assume he’ll end up going with Romney, just because that’s his best bet to maximize leverage for his new “movement” going forward. (bold and underline emphasis added)

Exit question: What does he mean by “unconventional”?
      (bold emphasis added)

IF Cain endorses Romney on January 19th, I think his chances for being declared the Republican VP nominee will go up a LOT, with Romney being the probable Presidential nominee!

        Hmmmmm!

Herman Cain, on 1/19/2012 decides to endorse, 'The People' ???

        My Comment:

Maybe Mr. Cain judged that the 'timing' was not right at present to endorse Romney. Gingrich seems to be the 'Republican Candidate du Jour' right now! (The Republican establishment has to keep the public excitement level high and the money coming in, so it has to appear that a real 'horse race' is occurring during this primary-season charade, at least for a while!)

Why make a big announcement and then wait to a specific date, 1/19/2012, two days before the SC Primary for Cain to endorse 'The People'? He could have endorsed 'The People' a month ago!

This turn of events confuses things at bit, I must admit.

However, I still think there is a significant chance that Romney will pick Herman Cain to run as VP. Perhaps Cain is just still playing the 'Good Republican' here in an attempt to keep the Primary Race interesting! This action will further cement Cain's endearment to the political right wing, which will be of critical importance to Romney (Obama Lite) in November!

Romney, and his handlers, sure don't want any discouraged, right wing, potential supporters of the Republican ticket to sit out this election, thus helping Obama to prevail!

Herman Cain to Mitt Romney: Pick Allen West for vice president

            Politico

            M.J. Lee
            4/9/2012

            Excerpt:

"The former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza explained on the radio show, “Here’s why. He is direct. People in Florida love him. He has a huge following. He is from Florida – Florida is going to be one of those key states But more importantly, Col. Allen West is a dedicated patriot, he served in the military and he’s willing to serve his country some more.”

Cain predicted that there may be some “pushback” because West is only serving out his first term as a congressman, but insisted that this shouldn’t deter the Florida congressman.

“But my advice to [West], if he were to ask me, is, ‘You served your country well, and now you have a higher calling,’” Cain said. “And I would strongly recommend that he consider it, depending upon any personal consideration that he might have.”

“I think he would be an excellent choice,” he added.

Cain’s suggestion comes a week after Sarah Palin also named West as her “rogue” vice presidential pick for the Republican Party’s eventual presidential nominee."

My Comment: I have never been a big fan of Allen West, although to be truthful, I don't remember all the reasons I came to have this impression of him. Nevertheless, I think a Romney/West ticket would have the same general advantages that I originally suggested would be the case for a Romney/Cain ticket.

Regardless, I am still not ruling out Cain as Romney's choice for the VP slot, although I am certainly no bigger fan of Cain than I am of West. However, I think a Romney/Cain -- left/moderate-right combination has a MUCH BETTER CHANCE of beating Obama than does a Romney/West -- left/full-right combination in our current, socialist-leaning USA political environment.

Of course, a campaign with Cain or West as VP would be very significantly 'racist' driven, just like the Obama 2008 campaign was very significantly 'racist' driven! I hope we can all get this illogical thinking behind us someday! Very sad indeed!
