When Army and Navy collide in their annual football classic this season, the patriots will be playing as well. No, not the New England Patriots but a liberty-loving rock band that seems to shine at sporting events.
Madison Rising is known for their intense music as well as their passionate promotion of freedom. The group has already played at halftime of a San Diego Chargers game and other athletic contests, spreading a message that always puts America first. But this is different.
"It's definitely special," said Dave Bray, Madison Rising's front man. "A pig roast and a party with our troops is about as good as it gets."
On December 14, the band will be performing at Tailgate for the Troops, a huge tailgate party in the parking lot of Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field, the stadium that will host the gridiron battle between the Black Knights and the Midshipmen.
The lead vocalist not only loves our service members, he's one of them. Bray served in the Navy for four years.
"It's an honor to play for our brave men and women of the armed forces," Bray said. "We want them to know we are supporting them every step of the way."
About a month before the Army-Navy game in December, Madison Rising and their ever growing fan base have another date circled. On November 5, the group's second album, “American Hero” will be released. For those who can't wait, a new single, “Ready If It Goes There,” is already out.
The video for the new track was shot with an eight millimeter application from a phone. It gives the viewer a gritty, raw feel and reminds us that this band throws around a lot of sweat equity as opposed to money. They do it for love. Love of music and love of country.
"Basically, the new video shows a guy who's had enough with all the depressing news on TV, so he packs up his flag, bible, weapon, and guitar and hits the road to spread his message," Bray said. "Then there's footage of us on the road having fun. I like to play on and off stage. We wanted to show a band being a band."
The pro-gun video follows the band playing at various venues, their dedicated fans, and even a day of shooting at the unique Zombie Shooters Association in North Carolina.
As far as the new album goes, Madison Rising has its heart in the right place as usual. “American Hero” is dedicated to our armed forces and first responders.
“American Hero” includes ten songs, including the band's rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner", which is so good it even earned a Facebook and Twitter shout out from former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.
Also on the album, a new rendition of “America the Beautiful” and the band's ambitious tackling of some serious issues like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
They are pro-veterans, pro-Second Amendment, and pro-liberty.
