Trump for Governor? NY State GOP Courting Donald for 2014

Donald Trump, Real estate mogul, reality show host, and frequent critic of President Barack Obama, has often flirted with mounting a run for the White House but never pulled the trigger. On Monday, The New York Post reported that the Republican Party of New York state is courting Trump to make good on his interest in politics by committing to challenging Gov. Andrew Cuomo in 2014.
The Post obtained a memo circulating among New York Republicans who are examining the prospect of Trump mounting a run for governor under the GOP banner. “There is only one prospective candidate who could run on the GOP line and win against Cuomo in 2014 — Donald Trump,” the memo read.
“I actually just heard about this like you heard about this,” Trump told the hosts of Fox & Friends on Monday. He said that a bid for the governor’s mansion in New York is “not something that I’ve ever even thought about.’’
While Trump launched into a wide-ranging criticism of Cuomo and his administration’s governance, he said that a gubernatorial bid is “not something that’s of great interest to me.”
