Ted Cruz Takes Heat on Facebook for Praising Mandela

    Newsmax

    12/7/2013

    Excerpt:

While Texas Sen. Ted Cruz offered strong support for the courage and perseverance of South African president and global human-rights icon Nelson Mandela, some political supporters were angry at his remarks.

"Nelson Mandela will live in history as an inspiration for defenders of liberty around the globe… Because of his epic fight against injustice, an entire nation is now free," Cruz wrote in a statement. It also was posted to his Facebook page, where it earned him more than 6,200 likes by Saturday night.

But others expressed outrage that Cruz didn't, as others have in the wake of Mandela's death Thursday at 95, call him out as a communist and terrorist, ABC News reported.

"Honoring him is like honoring the Prince of Darkness," one of Cruz's followers posted in response.

Others made it personal, comparing Cruz to the National Party of South Africa that Mandela opposed.

    Nelson Mandela 1918-2013

    FrontPage Magazine

    David Horowitz
    12/6/2013

    Excerpt:

Mandela began as a terrorist and never turned his back on monsters like Arafat and Castro, whom he considered brothers in arms. When he was released from prison by de Klerk, he showed unexpected statesmanship, counseling reconciliation rather than revenge, no small achievement in a country in which the “liberation” movement (led by Mandela’s wife and party) placed oil filled inner tubes around the necks of former comrades and set them on fire.

But if a leader should be judged by his works, the country Mandela left behind is an indictment of his political career, not an achievement worthy of praise – let alone the unhinged adoration he is currently receiving across the political spectrum.

South Africa today is the murder capital of the world, a nation where a woman is raped every 30 seconds, often by AIDs carriers who go unpunished, and where whites are anything but the citizens of a democratic country which honors the principles of equality and freedom.

Liberated South Africa is one of those epic messes the Left created and promptly forgot about.

Where are Photos of Ted Cruz at Mandela Memorial?

        Shoebat Foundation
        12/12/2013

        Excerpt:

Shortly after news of Nelson Mandela’s death last week, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) issued a press release praising the Communist leader. Despite a backlash from conservatives for doing so, Cruz doubled down, deciding to make the trip to South Africa for Mandela’s memorial. Despite being the only U.S. Senator to attend the memorial, based on both Cruz’s family history and Mandela’s relationship with Cuba’s Fidel Castro, Cruz should have been the last Senator to make the trip.

While there, Cuba’s Raul Castro gave a speech; Cruz reportedly walked out when Castro began to speak.

Yet, to this point, a Google search reveals exactly zero photos of Cruz in South Africa.

        Why?

Did no one photograph him on his way to the memorial? Did no one photograph him walking out during Castro’s speech?

It would seem, based on Cruz’s expressed views on Mandela, that his office would proudly display such photos.
