Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, along with Bernie Sanders and the Democratic National Committee, are hitting Donald Trump hard over an exchange with a supporter on Thursday night when he didn’t challenge an anti-Muslim question from the audience during his rally in New Hampshire.
Clinton has called the incident “disturbing” and Sanders called for an apology, while the DNC said Trump’s “racism knows no bounds.”
After asking the audience for “violent” and “terrible” questions, a man said there is “a problem in this country, it’s called Muslims. We know our current president is one — you know he’s not even American.”
He also brought up “training camps” and asked the Republican front-runner what was he was going to do to “get rid of them,” which many Democrats interpreted as meaning Muslims as a whole.
“We’re going to be looking at a lot of different things,” Trump said.
When another man stood up to “applaud the gentleman who stood and said Obama is a Muslim born abroad,” Trump responded with “right.”
Hillary Clinton tweeted that Trump’s reaction to the question was “disturbing.”
The tweet, signed with “-H” indicates Clinton personally sent the tweet, not one of her staffers.
Sanders went off on Trump in a series of tweets.
