Chris Matthews ended tonight’s Hardball with observations about the 2016 field that included calling Donald Trump “the best television candidate” since the likes of Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump.
Matthews said despite the huge number of Republican candidates, the list of actually viable candidates is down to Trump, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz.
He said GOP voters need to “shoot the moon” with Trump or play it safe with Rubio, because Cruz would be “an inaugural kiss to Hillary.”
As for Trump, Matthews said, “Donald Trump showed himself the best television candidate since Ronald Reagan and Jack Kennedy before him. Attack him and it looks like sour grapes.”
