Donald Trump released a video after midnight Friday apologizing for lewd 2005 remarks caught on a tape that have plunged his campaign into chaos less than 48 hours before the second presidential debate.

Trump was also defiant in the video, saying while his words were foolish there is a "big difference" between them and former President Bill Clinton's "abuse" of women in the White House. He also called the discussion surrounding his comments a distraction.

“I never said I’m a perfect person nor pretended to be someone I’m not,” Trump said. “I’ve said and done things I regret and the words released today on this more than decade-old video are one of them. These words don’t reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong and I apologize.

He added that his travels around the country for the campaign has changed him and that he would "be a better man."

“I’ve said some foolish things, but there is a big difference between the words and actions of other people Bill Clinton has actually abused women and Hillary has bullied, attacked, intimidated and shamed his victims,” Trump said in the video posted to his Facebook page.

"Let's be honest, we are living in the real world. this is nothing more than a distraction from the important issues we are facing today. We are losing our jobs, we are less safe than we were eight years ago, and Washington is totally broken."

“We will discuss this more in the coming days. See you at the debate on Sunday.”

Trump's lewd comments spiraled into a scandal on Friday afternoon after The Washington Post published video caught on a hot microphone before an appearance on "Access Hollywood."

The GOP nominee talked about unsuccessfully trying to bed a married woman and said that as a celebrity, women let him "do anything."

"You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything," he said in the audio.

Trump Tells WSJ There Is "Zero Chance I'll Quit"

In an interview with the WSJ, Donald Trump has said there’s "zero chance I'll quit", adding that “I never, ever give up." He also insisted his campaign isn’t in crisis: “The support I’m getting is unbelievable, because Hillary Clinton is a horribly flawed candidate.”

Trump said he is considering making a speech Saturday night to discuss the controversy as well as his campaign’s positions. He said the controversy will blow over as did others, such as his attacks on Sen. John McCain and his proposed ban on Muslims.

About his sexually charged statements caught on tape, Mr. Trump said, “People get it. They get life.” Asked about the reaction of the two women with whom he is closest, wife Melania Trump and daughter Ivanka Trump, he replied: “I was with Ivanka yesterday; I’m with Melania now. They fully understand, and they’re very loyal.”

Unlike in a video he taped and released last night, Mr. Trump, who spoke on Saturday from his Manhattan home in Trump Tower, offered no apologies in the Journal interview, but rather went on the offensive. “Go behind closed doors of the holier-than-thou politicians and pundits and see what they’re saying. I look like a baby.”

The statement follows calls from Republicans for him to exit the race as a result of the leaked audio revealing Trump making obscene sexual remarks in 2005.

Among those calling for Trump to step down from the GOP presidential ticket are Sens. Mike Crapo, Mike Lee, Mark Kirk, Barbara Comstock and Ben Sasse.

Earlier, Reps. Jason Chaffetz, Martha Roby and Kelly Ayotte rescinded their endorsements of Trump, and conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt has called on him to leave the presidential race.

When the news broke last night about what MSNBC and other media are calling “Trump Tapes”, I was initially dismayed. We’ve all known boys and men who never got beyond the juvenile city-boy locker room snickering about the female sex. Depending on our attitude, we either shrugged them off as jerks, or felt uncomfortable being referred to by our body parts and what they’d like to do to them.

It’s an icky feeling.

But I stayed with MSNBC, wanting to see how they are “reporting” this scandal du jour about Trump. And I am more sickened by their blatant push to bury Trump over this.

Not a word is said/reported/mentioned about the latest Hillary/Podesta Wikileaked documents. They rush to bring on Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz, a devout Mormon, who was first out the gate to repudiate and castigate Trump for his heinous comments (“heinous” in italics).

No one likes that side of Trump that’s frat boy vulgar, but I bet there are more men in America who can relate, than not. And what that says about our society I leave up to you to assess. But when I compare what Trump’s doing to all that Hillary and her pedorast husband have done, it pales in comparison.

Those who now say they will not vote for Trump because of this either

1. were really never going to vote for him anyway and/or
2. are unable to make the distinction between locker room boy talk and selling national security secrets and influence to nations that would and do us harm.

Washington, D.C. – While The Washington Post was busy putting the finishing touches on the release of a video in which Donald Trump boasted about hitting on women, Juanita Broaddrick was in town at the historic Watergate Hotel, where she repeatedly broke down in tears during a powerful video interview exclusive to Breitbart News, recounting what she described as the life-changing experience of being raped by Bill Clinton.

Trembling, Broaddrick explained that she is still afraid of Bill Clinton and asserted that she is frightened by the prospect of Hillary Clinton winning the election. She described the alleged rape in vivid detail, providing the most extensive window yet into the singular event that she says left her traumatized until today.

In one dramatic scene, a sobbing Broaddrick was embraced and consoled by another alleged Clinton sexual assault victim, Kathleen Willey, who was present for the filming.

Willey tells the crying Broaddrick: “It’s not your fault. Okay. It’s not your fault. It’s not your fault. You didn’t do anything wrong. You didn’t do anything wrong. Okay. Okay?”

While the news media shifted focus to Trump’s lewd sexual banter caught on a hot mic in 2005, Broaddrick and Willey were in our nation’s capital to discuss how their lives were devastated by their respective experiences with the Clintons. They also emphatically warned about what a Hillary Clinton presidency could mean for women in general–the Clintons’ perceived enemies in particular.

Here is a partial transcript of the exchange:

BROADDRICK: And then as he points over my shoulder, he grabs me and turns me to him. And that was a shock. And I tried to push him away. And I only weighed about 120 pounds at that time. He was a very large man. And I kept telling him, “No. I don’t want this at all.”
