Gun control called new version of Jim Crow
Black activist: 'With power in the hands of a few, many get hurt'

A prominent black conservative and author has released a new 30-second ad that likens gun-control campaigns by powerful Democrats in Congress and state legislatures to the Ku Klux Klan’s efforts to suppress blacks during the era of Jim Crow laws.
One of those laws, in fact, is cited in the ad released by WND columnist Star Parker, who is the founder of CURE.
Accompanied to the sound of a chant, the video images are shocking: whites breaking into a house, tying up a black and hauling him off. The last image is of a lynching.
The message?
“Gun control is not a new idea in America. A call for background checks invokes painful memories of Jim Crow and black codes. ‘No freedman, negro, or mulatto shall carry or keep firearms or ammunition’ – Mississippi Black Code 1865. Taking guns from the law abiding many puts too much power in the hands of an ill-intentioned few.”
Parker told WND that it was a horrific part of the nation’s history, but the struggle still continues by the left “trying to take our Second Amendment right to bear arms.”
If successful, the results would be mayhem, she said.
“That’s what will happen to all of us if we allow the power of a few in Washington to take away our Second Amendment rights,” she said. “It’s always the powerful who want to disarm their opponents.”
It’s what happened in Hitler’s regime, she said, as well as in Stalin’s Russia, in Cuba and North Korea.
Eventually, all of America would look like an inner city, should the nation’s current course not be changed, she said.
“Why would an organization like CURE, whose mission focuses on the relevance of American values of faith and freedom to minorities, be so concerned about guns?” she wrote.
“Because, as conservative black Americans, we know that the soul of America is kept alive with the free flow of the oxygen of freedom. And we know that when that flow is interrupted in any way, the group that suffers first and most are blacks.”
She noted the new gun control initiatives coming from President Obama, Democrats in Congress and Democrats at the state level. In Colorado alone, Democrats are working to install seven new gun control laws.
“There is no problem facing America today that liberals do not believe should be solved by more government and less freedom. And liberals are consistent and predictable in their indifference to facts and experience that show whenever they do succeed in growing government and limiting freedom, they make matters worse, not better,” she wrote.
“A substantial body of research already shows that gun controls empower criminals and weaken law-abiding citizens.”
Parker noted that blacks already are “the least armed, least protected and defended, and the most assaulted citizens in our country.”
