Sharyl Attkisson, the Emmy award-winning investigative reporter, is in talks to leave CBS News ahead of contract, POLITICO has learned.
Sources familiar with the situation cite disputes between Attkisson and network executives, including CBS Evening News executive producer Patricia Shevlin, as the cause for the talks, though the specific issues could not be confirmed.
"I am under contract at CBS and I have not quit," Attkisson told POLITICO in a written statement. She declined to comment further. CBS News declined to comment; a request to speak with Shevlin was redirected to the press office.
Attkisson has been with CBS News for 20 years and won several awards for the network, including three Emmys for investigative reporting. Most recently she was awarded with both an Emmy for Outstanding Investigative Journalism and an Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Investigative Reporting for her "Gunwalker: Fast and Furious" story, about the ATF gunwalking scandal. - (bold and color emphasis added)
