As the flaws inherent in Obamacare become increasingly difficult for even the most news-averse Americans to ignore, President Obama is embarking on a probably futile crusade to sell the public on his signature legislative monstrosity.
Obama seems destined to get an even less enthusiastic reception from the public than George W. Bush received during the 43rd president’s ill-fated and largely forgotten 2005 crusade to reform Social Security.
Although Obama announced he is embarking on a three-week tour to convince Americans that socialized medicine is the answer to their collective prayers, Americans are recoiling at the brazen incompetence of the Obamacare exchange rollout. They seem to know almost instinctively that Obama’s statement foreshadows the looming disaster that we know as later-stage implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
That horrendous legislation is throwing millions of Americans out of the health care plans that Obama promised again and again they would be able to keep. Citizens have learned not to trust government with their health. The government made virtually no effort to ensure the security of data entered into HealthCare.gov and as a result a large proportion of insurance applicants are now at an elevated risk of having their identities stolen. The Obama administration claims the website is improving, but there is no way to know if it is telling the truth given its persistent lying about the condition of the health care program.
“The next three weeks are just a propaganda campaign and the American people are going to see right through it,” David Hogberg, Ph.D., senior health care analyst at the National Center for Public Policy Research said in an interview following Obama’s speech.
“Nothing the president can say will change the fact that millions of Americans are losing their insurance and suffering sticker shock when looking at prices on the exchanges. Propaganda doesn’t work when the truth is smacking people in the face.”
Just like another failed left-wing Democratic president, namely 1970s throwback Jimmy Carter, Barack Obama fancifully believes if he repeats his stale old talking points long enough and passionately enough and promises to work harder on fixing problems that one day, somehow, the American people will see the light and come around to his way of thinking.
Obama continues to advance the myth that Obamacare is actually meant to function and succeed, as opposed to being a cynical, Machiavellian vehicle to redistribute wealth, cripple private-sector insurance companies, and impose a single-payer system on the United States of America. In other words Obama is even more aggressively pretending that his through-the-looking-glass health care system is actually supposed to work.
“The bottom line is this law is working and will work into the future. People want the financial stability of health insurance. And we’re going to keep on working to fix whatever problems come up in any startup, any launch of a project this big that has an impact on one-sixth of our economy, whatever comes up we’re going to just fix it because we know that the ultimate goal, the ultimate aim, is to make sure that people have basic security and the foundation for the good health that they need.”
At a staged White House event Tuesday populated by specially selected lickspittles, partisan hacks from both inside and outside the media, Obama maniacs, and true believers in socialized medicine, an angry, defiant-sounding Obama subjected his audience to a smorgasbord of lies and logical fallacies.
Pulling out an exhaustive, hyperbolic litany of sob stories from thin air, Obama contended that Obamacare would end the near-Dickensian suffering of low-income Americans without health insurance. Cueing invisible violins Obama rhapsodized that
For too long, few things left working families more vulnerable to the anxieties and insecurities of today’s economy than a broken health care system. So we took up the fight because we believe that, in America, nobody should have to worry about going broke just because somebody in their family or they get sick. We believe that nobody should have to choose between putting food on their kids’ table or taking them to see a doctor. We believe we’re a better country than a country where we allow, every day, 14,000 Americans to lose their health coverage; or where every year, tens of thousands of Americans died because they didn’t have health care; or where out-of-pocket costs drove millions of citizens into poverty in the wealthiest nation on Earth. We thought we were better than that, and that’s why we took this on.
Never mind that government studies project that after full implementation of Obamacare has been achieved there will be roughly the same number of uninsured people in the population as before the Affordable Care Act was enacted three years ago.
