Reid's shady secret land deal behind Nev. dispute?

    Examiner

    Anthony Martin, Conservative Examiner
    4/11/2014

    Excerpt:

A familiar name in Washington politics that is emerging as a potential central figure in the Nevada cattle dispute is none other than U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., Senate Majority Leader. Reid figures into the scandal in at least two ways.

According to radio host and Fox News Channel contributor Dana Loesch, Sen. Reid moved the boundaries of the original habitat of the endangered desert tortoise in order to accommodate a development by Reid's top political donor, Harvey Whittemore. But why is this of such vital importance?

Protecting the original habitat of the endangered tortoise was the supposed primary reason for the federal land seizure of that portion of Nevada to begin with. But that motivational factor was thrown out the window in a hurry when Reid decided to help his cash cow with his development project on that land. Reid, thus, changed the boundaries of the habitat and moved the tortoise to the new area.

But this is not the only way that Reid is directly connected to the growing Nev. cattle scandal. In 2012 both Breitbart and Reuters reported that Sen. Reid was pushing a land deal with the Chinese that would result in the construction of a $5 billion dollar solar panel plant on the very land that is now being disputed in Clark County, Nev., the home of rancher Cliven Bundy whose family has used the land for cattle for over 150 years.

    According to Breitbart,

The son of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), Rory Reid, is the primary representative for ENN Energy Group, a Chinese energy company seeking to build a $5 billion solar panel plant on a 9,000-acre Clark County desert plot in Laughlin, Nevada.

ENN scored big when Clark County commissioners unanimously voted to sell the Chinese company the public land for just $4.5 million, despite the fact that it was appraised at $38.6 million.

Sen. Reid has been one of ENN’s biggest supporters, having recruited the company during a 2011 trip to China. According to Reuters, last month Sen. Reid tried to “pressure Nevada's largest power company, NV Energy, to sign up as ENN's first customer.”

Both Reid and his son denied lobbying the Chinese to secure the land deal. But this would explain why, after 150 years, the Feds appear to be so eager to get Bundy and his cattle off of that land.

Nevada Cattle Rancher Wins 'Range War' With Feds

    ABC News

Liz Fields via Good Morning America
    4/12/2014

    Excerpt:

A Nevada cattle rancher appears to have won his week-long battle with the federal government over a controversial cattle roundup that had led to the arrest of several protesters.

Cliven Bundy went head to head with the Bureau of Land Management over the removal of hundreds of his cattle from federal land, where the government said they were grazing illegally.

Bundy claims his herd of roughly 900 cattle have grazed on the land along the riverbed near Bunkerville, 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas, since 1870 and threatened a "range war" against the BLM on the Bundy Ranch website after one of his sons was arrested while protesting the removal of the cattle.

"I have no contract with the United States government," Bundy said. "I was paying grazing fees for management and that's what BLM was supposed to be, land managers and they were managing my ranch out of business, so I refused to pay."

The federal government had countered that Bundy "owes the American people in excess of $1 million " in unpaid grazing fees and "refuses to abide by the law of land, despite many opportunities over the last 20 years to do so."

However, today the BLM said it would not enforce a court order to remove the cattle and was pulling out of the area.

"Based on information about conditions on the ground, and in consultation with law enforcement, we have made a decision to conclude the cattle gather because of our serious concern about the safety of employees and members of the public," BLM Director Neil Kornze said.

We the People Converging on Nevada force BLM into Retreat

      Canada Free Press

      Judi McLeod
      4/12/2014

      Excerpt:

In the most intense publicly-fought battle against Big Government since the election of Barack Hussein Obama, it’s We the People 1, Bureau of Land Management boss Obama, 0.

With their 200 snipers, helicopters, SUVs, snarling dogs and tasers, the fast-talking, high-handed BLM has retreated from the arena.

There are some who would say outright that the BLM cut and run, hightailing it off of Cliven Bundy’s ranch, and some would be right.

One thing to set the dogs on protesters and taser one or two when your government bosses are backing you up. Quite another when hundreds of folk are driving from hours away to be there for a harassed rancher and his family.

With agencies like the IRS and NSA in their faces and pockets, Americans are finally mad and aren’t going to take it anymore.

Dozens of their letters to this news site and others prove that they don’t care if it’s about the Desert Tortoise, the Delta Smelt, the Spotted Owl, the Prairie Grouse, or even the Obama-claimed flatulence of cows. They just want Big Government to stop driving landowners, ranchers and farmers off their land.

The radical environmentalists the BLM, EPA and others have thrown in with can knock themselves out over their Starbuck lattés with the mainstream media for all they care.

“The Bureau of Land Management announced Saturday that it has concluded its mission to remove illegal cattle from a rural Nevada range after a tense week-long standoff with a rancher and militia supporters. (Fox News, April 12, 2014)

“Based on information about conditions on the ground, and in consultation with law enforcement, we have made a decision to conclude the cattle gather because of our serious concern about the safety of employees and members of the public,” the statement read.

Guess they mean members of the public not harassed by police dogs or tasers.

To BLM it’s the “cattle gather”. To rancher Bundy and his supporters it’s cattle rustling by “the gubmint”.

Their official statement is straight out of Government Propaganda 101. Suddenly BLM, with its shameful reputation of riding roughshod over ranchers hen there are no cameras and LiveStreams around, are concerned about the safety of “members of the public”.

“Bureau officials had dismantled designated protest areas supporting rancher Cliven Bundy, who they say refuses to comply with the “same laws that 16,000 public land ranchers do every year.” (Fox News)

A statement that leaves them wide open, for Clive Bundy isn’t the only rancher who’s their target.

For certain, Bundy isn’t the only rancher who was harassed by the overbearing BLM. Its agents went after Wally Klump, imprisoning him for a year at age 70. Then there’s their harassment campaign against Wayne Hage, who never got to spend a penny of the $4.22 million awarded to him by the federal courts.

Bundy refuses to comply “with the same laws that 16,000 public land ranchers do every year”? Hard to believe in the Math of BLM when the regime that pays it continues to lie about the “millions” signed up for ObamaCare.

Notice how easily they bandy that this is all about American taxpayers to whom Bundy owes “in excess of $1 million”.

In typical government fashion, they likely spent in excess of $2 million trying to collect whatever amount he really owes.

“After 20 years and multiple court orders to remove the trespass cattle, Mr. Bundy owes the American taxpayers in excess of $1 million. The BLM will continue to work to resolve the matter administratively and judicially,” the statement said. “We ask that all parties in the area remain peaceful and law-abiding as the Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service work to end the operation in an orderly manner.”

Those who turned out in support of Rancher Bundy are not asking that all parties in the area remain peaceful and law-abiding, they are DEMANDING it.

According to FoxNews, a group of about 1,000 supporting Bundy cheered and sang “The Star Spangled Banner” when BLM made its announcement.
