New-Jersey Online reports: Ex-Newark City Hall employee admits role in bogus birth certificate scheme
NEWARK — A former employee of Newark’s Office of Vital Statistics pleaded guilty today to creating phony New Jersey birth certificates and handing them off to a friend so he could sell them, federal prosecutors say.
Cory Cooke, 45, of Newark, admitted he used personal information from four different people to produce bogus birth certificates between August 2013 and October 2013, according to New Jersey U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman.
