Yesterday, June 30th 2013, Barack Obama was photographed inside of a prison cell at the Robben Island Prison in South Africa.
Readers may not know this, but this is not Barack Obama’s first trip to prison. His first trip to the Robben Island Prison was in the year 2006.
From inside the prison yesterday Obama said to his daughters (Natasha Obama and Malia Ann Obama), “One thing you guys might not be aware of is that the idea of political nonviolence first took root here in South Africa because Mahatma Gandhi was a lawyer here in South Africa. When he went back to India the principles ultimately led to Indian independence, and what Gandhi did inspired Martin Luther King.”
Esteemed anti-apartheid icon and revered hero Nelson Mandela (age 94) is dangerously ill and is on life support at a Pretoria (one of the 3 capitals of South Africa) hospital where he has been battling a recurring lung infection since June 8th 2013.
As readers may know, before Nelson Mandela became President of South Africa (1994 thru 1999) he was a political prisoner in South Africa for approximately 27 years (1962 thru 1990) and served approximately 18 of the 27 years (1962 thru 1982) at the Robben Island Prison in South Africa.
Postscript:
A few days ago, June 28th 2013, members of the Mandela family initiated a lawsuit against Nelson Mandela’s grandson (Mandla Mandela), accusing him of secretly exhuming the remains of three of Mr. Mandela’s children in 2011 as part of a ruse to shift the family graveyard closer to his home.
Court documents cited in Sunday editions (06.30.2013) of South African newspapers contained claims that the ancestral spirits of the Mandela family had been disturbed by the bodies’ removal, which was in turn contributing to Nelson Mandela’s suffering.
In a statement released on Sunday (06.30.2013), Mandla Mandela (Nelson Mandela’s grandson) said he would contest the lawsuit in court.

I hesitated to submit a reference here to the weird LC article. However, I decided that the enticing post title – “Barack Obama Went to Prison Yesterday” – DESERVED some type of response, and THIS was the best that I could generate! LOL
I just WISH the post title had been literally true for Obama the way that incarceration WAS ACTUALLY TRUE for former Lieutenant Colonel Terrence (“Terry”) Lakin, who was court-martialed and imprisoned for simply asking to see proof of Obama’s eligibility.
