The Birthers: Obama’s Birth Certificate is a new documentary by Richard Syrett in which he
interviews three (3) prominent Birthers who present evidence they claim proves Barack Obama is not eligible to be President because he does not meet the qualifications of a natural born citizen. They also argue that Obama’s birth certificate is a forgery.

She mentions George Wilcken Romney and his 1968 presidential campaign which I think is fair to point out (I have myself). However, when asked about reports, including those from Obama’s step-grandmother (Sarah Onyango Obama) in Kenya, indicating that Stanley Ann Dunham gave birth in Kenya, all that Allenna Leonard could say was this:
No one in their right mind would go from Hawaii which has a first class American medical system to give birth in a country far away that didn’t have that good of medical system.
That’s not a very objective answer and it’s nothing more than speculation.
People, especially adventurous individuals such as Stanley Ann Dunham, don’t always do things just because those things are based on rational-analytical-decision-making.
Was it rational-analytical-decision-making that made George H. W. Bush (for the record: I dislike him) decide jump out of a helicopter at 75, 80, 85 and 90 years of age?
Even if there is statistical evidence indicating that jumping out of helicopters is relatively safe (is there?) or similar data on parachute failure (not functioning correctly) you’d still have to take into consideration the following:
1. Bush Sr. is 90 years old and even a soft touchdown from the jump could break bones. Moreover, a broken bone(s) at age 90 is a serious problem which could also lead to death.
2. In January 2013 Bush Sr. was discharged from a several weeks stay at Methodist Hospital in Houston after being treated for bronchitis, a bacterial infection and a persistent cough where he was placed in intensive care because physicians were having difficulty controlling his fever even after the cough was mostly resolved.

Leonard made a weak argument: Sarah Obama has repeatedly said that President Obama was born in Hawaii. Berg was being omissive (if not outright lying) when he said that she said that President Obama was born in Kenya.
This is all old news: the entire episode was recycled birther bunk warmed over by a lazy host.
Why is the President’s birth certificate treated like it was the British Crown Jewels? It is protected like it was some sort of TOP SECRET information. Except for a PDF on Whitehouse.gov, no one can see it, touch it, or examine it and no one can discuss the valuable thing in polite society without being verbally crucified. The Constitution, Declaration of Independence and H-bomb are not protected as well as Obama’s birth certificate.
It is nonsensical the way the President and his minions’ have handled the issue. They stone walled the matter for years adding to the suspicion. First, there was only a short form version and nothing else. Those who said there was a long form were mocked, called “Birthers” and bullied into silence. Then, what do you know, the long form version that didn’t exist, did exist, but the Hawaiian Governor, after looking high and low, couldn’t find it after claiming he would. Then the long form, that didn’t exist and couldn’t be found, appeared like magic at a (pencil and paper only) White House press conference 6000 miles away from Hawaii but only a copy of the copy could be seen. What a political coup for the President to have held up his BC to the world (like politicians do) in front of clicking cameras with a big Cheshire Cat smile on his face and say,
“Look here you stupid ‘Birthers‘. Here is my Hawaiian birth certificate. Now shut up or Lois Lerner (IRS) will audit you and NSA will spy on you,” but he didn’t. His handlers wouldn’t let him near the damn thing. You would have thought it was contagious or something. I don’t think he even spoke of it directly.
Mr. Obama should produce his real certified BC copy. You know the one like I and others have obtained from our County Seat with a raised seal and a Registrar stamp without spelling errors and a happy face in the Registrar’s name.
Let anybody who wants to see it, touch it, smell it, taste it, take it to dinner or do whatever they want with the damn thing. It’s just a piece of paper containing some signatures and typed statistical data. Society makes and keeps these records so they can be looked at. Yet for some curious reason his is hidden forever in the catacombs of the White House. Why? Heaven forbid something horrifying happened, like it was lost or eaten by the dog, burned or stolen and sold on eBay. If any of those things happened, what’s the big deal? The President can get another from Hawaii for a few bucks. Right?
Of course, Mr. President, I’m assuming you have nothing to hide. You don’t do you?

It turns out that birthers have never even ASKED to see it (I wonder why not—perhaps to give gullible people, like you, the notion that it is secret). Sure, birthers will claim that IF they asked then the Obama Administration would, so they say, not allow them to see it. But since they have not asked, they are only speculating and do not really know. Of course, IF they asked and were turned down, they could, and of course would, say that they were turned down. So why haven’t they asked to see the official copies of the birth certificate—the short form and long form birth certificates that the officials in Hawaii have repeatedly confirmed that they sent to Obama. Why haven’t they asked to see those documents and take them to real DOCUMENT experts instead of blowing smoke about their claims about the images of those birth certificates.
Instead, birthers have asked for something that they know that they cannot get, the ORIGINAL birth certificate in the files in Hawaii. THAT Obama has no control over and Hawaii never allows out of its files—-just like other states—-because originals have to be kept in the files or they can be lost or destroyed.
The official COPIES, the ones on security paper with the official seal attached, are what forensic document experts work with all the time. They work with the official copies, not the originals in the files because they know how to test security paper and examine raised seals. Those are on the copies, NOT the original. But birthers have demanded to see the original (which Hawaii does not release) and have NOT asked to see the official copies—-I wonder why not??
In any case, if you’d like to see the official copies, why not write a nice letter to the White House and ask, and then make a trip to Washington to see them. You’ll never know unless you ask.
Obama has shown both his Hawaii short-form BC (the Certification of Live Birth, COLB, which is the OFFICIAL birth certificate of Hawaii, used by thousands of people to get their US passports every year, and, BTW, he showed it way back in June 2008, five months before the election), and he has shown his long form Hawaii BC.
And the officials of BOTH parties in Hawaii have repeatedly confirmed that they sent them to him, and that all the facts, repeat ALL the facts, are exactly the same, repeat, EXACTLY the same, as what they sent to him. The fact that Hawaii issued a birth certificate for Obama in 1961 (when Hawaii was not allowed by its law to issue birth certificates to children born outside of Hawaii) is also confirmed by the public Index Data file and the birth notice in the “Health Bureau Statistics” section of the newspapers (which ONLY the DOH could send birth notices to) and by the INS inspector who checked on Obama’s father’s status and wrote: “one child, born in Honolulu”—and by the Hawaii teacher who wrote home about Stanley having a baby.
And there is no indication whatever that Obama’s mother even had a passport in 1961, and very very few 18-year-olds did at the time and EXTREMELY few women traveled abroad in the last few months of pregnancy. Yet birthers hope a few GULLIBLE people will just assume that both of those happened and that Obama’s birth certificate is forged and the officials of both parties are lying and the Index Data and the birth notices are forged and the INS inspector made an error in his “one child, born in Honolulu” note and the teacher who wrote home was lying. But you’d have to be terribly GULLIBLE to think that all of that happened.
Allenna Leonard was right when she said this:

In fact, she understates the case dramatically (allowing Smith to point out that there always are exceptions). But in addition to that obvious fact—the scarcity of women traveling to third-world countries to give birth—there are many more facts that make the alleged trip by Obama’s mother so EXTREMELY improbable as not to be a rational chance whatever.
For Obama to have been born in a foreign country:
(1) Obama’s relatives would have had to have been rich enough (and they weren’t. In 1961 Obama’s grandfather was a furniture salesman, and his grandmother was a low-level employee in a bank [she did not become a vice president until 1970], and his father went from Kenya to Hawaii on a free flight) and dumb enough to send their daughter at high risk of stillbirth to a foreign country to give birth—-—despite there being fine hospitals in Hawaii;
(2) Obama’s mother would have had to have traveled overseas ALONE (since WND has proven with a FOI Act request that Obama senior stayed in Hawaii throughout 1961) and somehow got Obama back to the USA without getting him entered on her US passport or getting a visa for him (which would have had to have been applied for in a US consulate in that country and the records would still exist);
(3) Obama’s relative would have had to have gotten the officials in Hawaii to record his birth in Hawaii despite (as birthers claim) his being born in another country and somehow got the teacher who wrote home to her father, named Stanley, about the birth in Hawaii of a child to a woman named Stanley to lie (and since the woman’s father’s name really was Stanley, Obama’s relatives would have had to have found one of the very few women in Hawaii with fathers of that name to do it).
So, the question is, what are the chances that all three happened?
(Oh, and there isn’t even proof that Obama’s mother had a passport in 1961, and very very few 18-year-olds did, and EXTREMELY few women traveled abroad late in pregnancy in 1961 because of the risk of stillbirths. Yet birther sites hope that a few GULLIBLE people will just assume that she was one of the few to have a passport and one of the extremely few women to travel abroad late in pregnancy, and that the birth certificate is forged and the officials of BOTH parties who have confirmed it and the Index Data and the birth notices sent to the Hawaii newspapers and the teacher who wrote home are all lying. )
I don’t know why the truth of the matter, that Obama’s documents check out, and he was born where they say it was, is so hard to swallow, yet these increasingly complex theories that hinge on all kinds of unknowable variables are somehow “what really happened”.
