President Trump pardoned two turkeys this year. Their names are Corn and Cob and were born and raised in Walcott, Iowa.
According to the video the tradition of pardoning a turkey (usually just one turkey) started in 1989 with George H. W. Bush. That being said it appears that it’s roots stem from Abraham Lincoln sparing the life of turkey he and his family where going to have for Thanksgiving when his son asked that the turkey’s life be spared because he considred the turkey to be his friend.
Happy Thanksgiving!
