Shireen Abu Akleh was murdered by Jewish supremacists while reporting in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories (specifically in Jenin, an “Area A city” located in the West Bank).
She was an American (or US citizen) and she was a Christian. As a journalist she had reported on Jewish supremacy in Israel and Palestine for more than 25 years.

Tragic story, but the Christian Palestinians are more profoundly oppressed in Israel than the Muslims….Shireen abu Akleh was “multicultural” (American-Christian-Palestinian) in precisely the tradition of the late Edward Wadie Said, his wife Miriam and daughter Najla, and some of my Coptic Christian friends from Cairo, Alexandria, Santa Monica (California), and here in New Orleans. It is beyond tragic, in fact, to contemplate that Christians are so (bilaterally) hated and regarded as the most suspect and dispensable minority in “the Holy Land.” Abraham was born in Ur (Mesopotamia/Iraq), Moses was born in Egypt, Mohammed was born in Mecca (Arabia Saudita), but Jesus Christ and all his family were born in Judea/Galilee/Israel. The post-Christian Jews, especially those who became Israelis/Zionists, essentially define themselves by distinguishing themselves from Christians on the one hand and White Europeans on the other. Israeli identity, oddly enough, merely depends on the oppression of the Palestinians, even though their language, and even their religion, are much closer to Arabic Islam….
