A media cover-up of a left-wing political scandal has two phases.
1. It never happened
2. Everyone does it
After spending a day in phase 1 on the Susan Rice unmasking story, we’re now in phase 2.
Phase 2 means the media emphasizing that Rice’s actions were within the scope of her authority. And that unmasking names isn’t illegal. And this is just the law.
Yes and no.
Abuses of power can involve actions that are legal in and of themselves. Buying stocks is legal. Buying stocks with insider information is a crime. Susan Rice unmasking the names of Trump associates is not illegal, though it’s about as unethical and tainted as anything can get. But if that information was then employed, passed along or leaked by anyone in the chain, it becomes a crime.
What we’re dealing with is a conspiracy in which those at the top minimize their exposure and those at the bottom have the most exposure. Rice was not (presumably) stupid enough to begin emailing anything to a reporter. But she was likely the tip of the spear in accessing that information. Information that she did not, despite the media’s claims, actually need to do her job.
Her only real use for the material was political. And anyone who understands how government works knows it.

Trump’s wiretap claim is anything but “baseless”

The pernicious lie that President Trump’s claim he was wiretapped by President Obama is “baseless” is being regurgitated in the mainstream media virtually nonstop in the 24/7 news cycle.
These people are so desperate to hang Trump that they embraced the ridiculous “piss-gate” dossier promoted by political hack Ben Smith’s cat-video website Buzzfeed.
At the same time as we are assured by Never Trumpers that Trump is making things up, the so-called evidence of Team Trump’s allegedly nefarious connections and collusion with the Russian government to subvert the American electoral process is treated as Holy Writ. The Left and the mainstream media – but I repeat myself – gravitate to the evidence that hurts Trump, ignoring the rest.
It’s that simple. And there is an impressive evidentiary double-standard at work in the weighing of evidence, much of which apparently has been politicized.
But as far as I can tell, nobody has clearly pointed out the seeming arbitrariness in the media taking the word of one group of spies over the other.
We know that the evidence supporting both the anti-Trump and pro-Trump claims reportedly comes from unnamed sources within the same U.S intelligence community (IC). If anyone with direct personal knowledge of evidence backing either claim has gone on the record, I’ve missed it (and I spend all day long on the Internet).
Why should we believe one set of anonymous IC sources over another? We don’t know who these people are – on either side — and what axes they may have to grind. And we shouldn’t blindly trust these intel people, either. There may be plenty who are honest and honorable, but there are plenty who aren’t. (See McMullin, Evan, and Rice, Susan.) At this point at least, we’re in no position to assess the evidence. All we have so far is one set of faceless spooks anonymously providing evidence that contradicts what the other spook cohort reportedly said.
We’ve just come out of the roughest, nastiest presidential transition in my lifetime, made so by Barack Obama, the most despotic, overreaching president since the great proto-fascist Woodrow Wilson, a Democrat like Obama. While Obama smiled for the television cameras and pretended to be cooperating with the Trump people, behind the scenes he worked zealously to lay minefields to safeguard his destructive, anti-American legacy.
There is no parallel in American history for the Obama administration’s not-so-metaphorical war against the incoming Trump administration. Obama has even taken the extremely unusual step of staying behind in the nation’s capital to vex and harass his successor. He has rented an Embassy Row mansion not far from the White House, built a wall around it to keep prying eyes away, and arranged for his senior White House advisor, Valerie Jarrett, to live there. He is also using his well-funded nonprofit, Organizing for Action, to do his dirty work.

Obama’s birth in Hawaii has been shown by (1) his HAWAII birth certificate and (2) the confirmation of the officials of both parties in Hawaii including the former Republican governor of the state (a strong supporter of Sarah Palin) and (3) the Index Data file and (4) the birth notices sent to the Hawaii newspapers in 1961 (and only the DOH could send birth notices to that section of the newspapers and it only did so for births in Hawaii).
And there isn’t even proof that Obama’s mother HAD A PASSPORT in 1961, and very very few 18-year-olds did at the time. And EXTREMELY few women traveled abroad during the last few months of pregnancy at the time due to the risk of stillbirths. Yet BOTH of those highly unlikely things would have had to have happened AND the officials of BOTH parties lied AND the Index Data and the birth notices (on microfilm rolls in two libraries) would have had to have been forged for Obama to have been born in a foreign country and not in HAWAII.
And birther sites LIED when they said that Obama’s Kenyan grandmother said that he was born in Kenya. She really said that he was born IN HAWAII in three interviews of which birther sites showed their readers only part of one, carefully cutting off the tape recordings on their sites just before she was asked where he was born and replied: “In Hawaii, where his father was studying at the time.” (Now I wonder why a birther site would do that?)
MOREOVER, for the same MOTIVE that led birther sites to LIE and claim that Obama’s Kenyan grandmother said that he was born in Kenya—-when she really said that he was born in Hawaii—-birther sites also are lying when they claim that Obama’s birth certificate is forged. It isn’t forged. They just say that it is (Now, I wonder what the motive could be?? I wonder.).
