I only skied on rare occasions during my college years, though I ice skated many times every winter throughout my entire young life in the Northeast U.S.A. Skiing was a rather expensive sport and I had to rent my equipment for each trip. I never traveled far from home to ski and those mountain venues were pretty pathetic compared to ski resorts in Vermont or Colorado, for example.
Regardless, I always remember those short, rare ski trips as wonderful, exciting and challenging adventures.

- Pretty, athletic girls
- Bright sun but very cold weather
- Warm clothes, gloves and goggles
- Exhilarating views from the mountain top prior to my descent
- Zigzagging down the mountain, falling all too frequently
- Relaxing in the chalet with fellow skiers after a long afternoon on the slopes
- Drinking hot coffee/cocoa or cold beer and, along with others in our little group, singing songs such as 'The Happy Wanderer' in front of a large, open fire.
